Premier League Buy Or Sell: Leeds (-175) & Leicester (-250) to Be Relegated

David Connelly - SportsGrid

The Premier League season is winding down, but plenty of drama awaits as relegation looms for three clubs at the bottom of the table. Demotion appears imminent for Southampton on 24 points with just three matches to play, while both Leeds and Leicester City still have some hope of making a great escape. We check in on the relegation odds for both clubs and whether or not they are worth a wager.

Leeds United (-275)

Due to having a worse goal differential than Leicester City, as they each sit on 30 points in the relegation zone, BetMGM gives Leeds United a slightly better chance at relegation. The only two teams they can catch are Everton (32 points) and Nottingham Forest (33 points). They have a better goal differential than Forest but worse than Everton.

Although the Whites have a tough run-in, newly-appointed manager Sam Allardyce is a survival specialist. He has been brought in midseason by multiple clubs throughout the past decade to drag them out of the relegation zone, which he has achieved with four clubs. With two of their final three matches at home, Everton having to face Manchester City, and Nottingham Forest still forced to go up against Arsenal, the Whites feel like a sell here and potentially a buy to survive the season if you can find a price somewhere.

Leicester City (-250)

Leicester City is the beneficiary of the best goal differential among the bottom five clubs in the table, but their final three matches are no gimmes. Liverpool, Newcastle, and West Ham all remain on the schedule for the Foxes, as it’s entirely possible they will walk away from these matches empty-handed.

Even if they take all three off the Hammers in their most likely chance at a win, it likely would not be enough, with Everton and Nottingham Forest needing a point or two to stay above the Foxes. The struggles have come within the defense, as it has still looked porous under the watchful eye of new manager Dean Smith. Five goals allowed against Fulham last weekend was a clear example of how far this backline is from being prepared to make a great escape. You should feel comfortable laying this number on Leicester City to fall to the Championship next season.
