Tier VI: Arkansas, Vanderbilt
To end the rankings, Arkansas and Vanderbilt have easily had two of the more disappointing seasons. The Razorbacks have already moved on from head coach Sam Pittman as they sit at 3-7, while Vandy has done no better with a 2-8 record. With both programs looking to return to their winning ways, they’ll, unfortunately, have to scratch those plans for the season as they have officially been eliminated from bowl eligibility.
Tier I: Georgia, Alabama
For another week Georgia and Alabama top the SEC power rankings in matchups where both squads dominated their in-conference opponents. After the Bulldogs' beatdown on Ole Miss and Bama handily defeating Kentucky, the two SEC powerhouses are inching closer and closer to matching up for the SEC championship to decide who is the better team.
Tier II: Missouri, Ole Miss
Missouri and Ole Miss sit at 8-2 despite their two different outcomes this past weekend. The Rebels received a harsh reality check in Athens against Georgia while the Tigers put together a complete game to humble the Volunteers. While each squad is coming off of different weekends, it doesn’t take away from how impressive they have been this season. Now, both clubs will look to finish the year off strong and see what their fate holds.
Tier III: LSU, Tennessee
LSU had one of their most exciting games of the year where Jayden Daniels put on another Heisman performance in a win against Florida. On the flip side, Tennessee struggled against an underrated Missouri group that proved to be the real deal. Nonetheless, at 7-3 records, both squads have already clinched a bowl game and now look to grab one of the top bowl games.
Tier IV: Kentucky, Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida
Kentucky, Texas A&M, and Auburn all sit at 6-4 on the year and have already clinched a bowl game for the season. As for Florida, they sit at 5-5 with two more chances to clinch a bowl game of their own. But with steep competition this year, being .500 or better is nothing to be ashamed of. Now, with a couple of games left, these squads can build momentum for their programs heading into next season.
Tier V: South Carolina, Mississippi State
The Gamecocks and the Bulldogs are in a tier of their own. With both team’s hanging on by a thread to their bowl game hopes at 4-6, these squads will have two choices: give up, or fight to earn one more game at the end of the season.
