Ja'Tavion Sanders
Ja'Tavion Sanders's stats may not be as flashy as the rest, but the tight end has made his mark in the receiving game and does the dirty work in the rushing game as a blocker. Sanders has 39 receptions on the year for 607 yards and two touchdowns, but the junior is a large part of the Longhorns' offensive success.
Top 5 Offensive Stars Powering the Texas Longhorns’ CFP Charge
After a strong season, the Longhorns are set to make their first college football playoff appearance in program history. And while Texas has been one of the more complete teams in the nation this year, their offense has been a massive reason for their success. That said, here's a look at the top five offensive playmakers for the Longhorns.
Jonathon Brooks
Jonathon Brooks has quickly emerged as one of college football's most elite running backs this year. After two years of running behind Texas legend Bijan Robinson, Brooks was finally handed the keys to the backfield, and he's done nothing but impress. The sophomore back rushed for 1,139 yards, averaging 6.1 yards per carry and 286 receiving yards. With 11 total touchdowns this year, Brooks looks to add to his total in the team's CFP matchup against the Washington Huskies.
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy has been one of the most explosive receivers in the nation since his freshman year with the Longhorns. Although the 6-foot-1 wide receiver has yet to break a 1,000-yard season, he's delivered big plays countless times for Texas. As their go-to guy, Worthy's athleticism and speed give the Longhorns a chance to score every time he touches the ball.
Quinn Ewers
More often than not, a football team is only as good as its quarterback. And fortunately for Texas, Quinn Ewers has proven to be a more than capable leader for the Longhorns. In what was a career year for Ewers, tossing 21 touchdowns, rushing for six more, and only throwing six interceptions, Texas finds themselves in the CFP for the first time. If Ewers continue to shine in the Longhorns' offense, they could shock the world and bring the National Championship home.
Adonai Mitchell
After two seasons with Georgia, Adonai Mitchell transferred to Texas, where he's proved to be that dangerous big-framed receiver he looked to be as a high school prospect. The 6-foot-5 playmaker has 813 receiving yards on the season, averaging 15.1 yards per catch, and has reeled in 10 touchdowns on the year. Mitchell has been everything the Longhorns could ask for since joining the team, allowing Texas to put one of the more dangerous offenses out on the field every game.
