It’s officially Open Championship week in professional golf.
SportsGrid dives deep into the field and looks toward some of our best bets for the coveted Major.
Collin Morikawa
It’s not hard to be impressed by what Collin Morikawa has accomplished in majors this year. Although he’s yet to capture a victory, he’s finished T-3, T-4, and T-14. Morikawa has the exact type of skillset we should target this week, and his price isn’t egregious. With his overall consistency on the big stage, Morikawa is a slam dunk for some action from us this week.
Best Bets: Morikawa to win Open Championship (+1400)
Xander Schauffele
After breaking through and winning his first major, Xander Schauffele has to be on our radar this week. Schauffele plays a very controlled game, and that’s the type of player we want on our card at Royal Troon. When we’re targeting outright winners, you want a player you’re confident will be in the running come the weekend, and it would be surprising to us if that weren’t the case for Xander.
Best Bet: Schauffele top 5 (+210), Schauffele to win Open Championship (+1000)

Rory McIlroy
Rory McIlroy took some much-needed time off after his missed putt at the U.S. Open before suiting up and playing well at the Scottish Open last week. It would be a redemption story if McIlroy came out and took down the Open Championship in the golf season’s final Major. McIlroy is an elite player on tour and has been playing great golf down the stretch. He’s far too talented not to be in the running this week, and his price is very reasonable, with all things considered.
Best Bet: McIlroy to win Open Championship (+850)

Longshots
Tony Finau
A golfer who has had a strong, under-the-radar season is Tony Finau. We haven’t seen that signature victory from him, but he’s been a consistent threat every week. When looking at the top 20, we want a player who has consistently been in the hunt at tournaments. Finau fits the bill here at an excellent price.
Best Bet: Finau to Finish Top 20 (+125)
Brian Harman
Brian Harman, the reigning winner of last year’s Open Championship, almost feels like an afterthought this week. Despite an inconsistent season, Harman has the club mix in his bag to find success again this year, even at a different track.
Best Bet: Harman to Finish Top 10 (+410)
