It’s officially PGA Championship week in professional golf.
SportsGrid dives deep into the field and looks toward some of our best bets for the coveted Major.
Scottie Scheffler
It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t kick off our chat about the 2024 PGA Championship with Scottie Scheffler. Although Scheffler’s been off of late after the birth of his first child, it’s hard to ignore the success he’s found this season when teeing it. In 2024, Scheffler won the RBC Heritage, The Masters, THE PLAYERS Championship, and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. It would be silly to start counting him out, even if he has some early rust this week. With the current prices for Scheffler, you’re not going to find much value this week, mainly because the sportsbooks are being more cautious with his pricing after a dominant stretch. You’d like for longer odds for Scheffler to win outright, and the slight juice on him might be enough to scare some away from him finishing in the top five. Still, the cost certainty he’s provided of late to bettors makes these worthwhile plays.
Best Bets: Scheffler to Finish Top 5 (-140), Scheffler Outright Winner (+400)
Ludvig Aberg
One of the top youngsters on tour is Ludvig Aberg. He fought well to try and stop Scheffler from winning The Masters but ultimately fell short. Aberg already has a pair of top-ten finishes at key events this season in The Masters and THE PLAYERS Championship, which gives us confidence in him this week, even with some lingering knee issues. Aberg doesn’t seem phased by the big moments, and with his already strong skillset, which should play well this week, he’s a solid player to target in this field.
Best Bet: Aberg to Finish Top 10 (+160)

Brooks Koepka
Guess who’s back trying to defend his title at the PGA Championship? None other than Brooks Koepka. The American golfer won the Major at Oak Hill last year, finishing the tournament 9-under par. Even with his mediocre play on the LIV Tour this season, you’re not going to get much value for him, knowing his history at Major tournaments. Still, that doesn’t mean we’ll avoid him on our card. Koepka shows up for these big events and will be looking to bounce back after a tough showing at The Masters. We’re not willing to sprinkle him going back-to-back at this event, but we like the price of him finishing in the top 10.
Best Bet: Koepka to Finish Top 10 (+125)
Longshots
Sahith Theegala
There’s a lot to like about Sahith Theegala’s performance this season. He can get a little wild at times, but his length off the tee and putting should put him in a position to find success. We’re more comfortable leaning on a top-20 finish with him, but we wouldn’t say no if you looked at the top ten.
Best Bet: Theegala to Finish Top 20 (+175)
Will Zalatoris
If you’re looking for a player who’s consistently shown up in Majors, Will Zalatoris is someone you should have plenty of confidence in this weekend at the PGA Championship. Zalatoris has already had five top-ten finishes at Major tournaments, which bodes well for him this week at the 2024 PGA Championship.
Best Bet: Will Zalatoris to Finish Top 10 (+450)
