Wyndham Clark
Besides winning the 2023 U.S. Open, Wyndham Clark has been a giant disappointment in major tournaments. It was more of the same at Royal Troon this week, which saw Clark shoot a combined +16 over his two days at the 2024 Open Championship. Despite having plenty of talent, Clark has yet to put things together in these high-end golf fields. That was the case once again this week in Scotland for Clark.

Rory McIlroy
After his missed short putt at the 2024 U.S. Open, Rory McIlory followed that up with another major meltdown at the 2024 Open Championship. Many expected McIlroy to bounce back after how his last major ended, but that didn't transpire in the slightest at Royal Troon. The storied star golfer out of Northern Island wasn't even close to making to the weekend, shooting an opening round of seven-over-par, and following that up with a four-over-par Round 2. Despite having all the talent in the world, McIlroy still hasn't won a major tournament since 2014.
Bryson DeChambeau
After winning the 2024 U.S. Open, Bryson DeChambeau had high hopes of taking home his second major of the year at the 2024 Open Championship. At the end of the day, it wasn't in the cards for DeChambeau, who shot a five-over-par in his opening round, and followed that up with a four-over-par in Round 2. DeChambeau missed the cut as a result, highlighting a disappointing showing for the LIV Golf Tour superstar.

Aguri Iwasaki
It's no secret how tough Royal Troon was playing at the 2024 Open Championship. That was highlighted by Aguri Iwasaki, who posted a pair of 9's on his scorecard during Round 2. After shooting 3-over-par in his opening round on Thursday, Iwasaki was the poster boy for how tough the course played in Round 2, shooting 20-over-par and finishing with a score of 91. When it gets bad at Royal Troon, it gets really bad.
Sahith Theegala
We've been bullish on Sahith Theegala making the jump into being a contender on a weekly basis on the PGA Tour. That didn't happen this week at Royal Troon. Theegala wasn't his typical consistent self that we've seen this season, shooting 14-over-par at the 2024 Open Championship. With multiple double bogeys and a triple bogey in Round 2, Theegala never stood a chance to make it into the field on the weekend.
