MLB Betting Guide for May 9: Are the Yankees Overhyped?

We have a small seven-game slate in the MLB today, so let’s dive into the action and lay out everything you need to know for the day ahead.

In the early window, the Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins will square off in the Twin Cities with two of the AL’s best arms taking the mound in Logan Gilbert and Pablo Lopez. This total sits at just 6.5, but our betting model is touting a five-star play on the over so tread wisely!

Later on, the New York Yankees will look to sweep the Houston Astros and extend their win-streak to six games tonight. After a nine-run performance by the Bronx Bombers, we’ll just completely ignore the Astros’ struggles from the equation, but I’m still struggling to buy into the Yankees as overwhelming AL favorites given how strong the Baltimore Orioles appear and now that the Texas Rangers are picking up steam. It remains to be seen as it’s a long season, but at the current price of +300, I’m struggling to find any value.

Later on, we’ll keep an eye on Sonny Gray as he takes the ball for the St. Louis Cardinals against the Milwaukee Brewers as he sits on a 0.89 ERA through five starts, while also continuing to check out the Kansas City Royals who find themselves on national television tonight against the Los Angeles Angels.
