MLB SGP: +1000 New York Mets @ New York Yankees

Ben DiGiacomo

Host · Writer

The New York Subway Series is back; this time, the stage is set for the Bronx. The New York Mets have been playing much-improved baseball while the New York Yankees have regressed, but regardless, tonight is going to be an electric showdown. Of course, we had to work up an ultimate same-game parlay.

Valued at +1000, let’s ride!

Leg 1: Yankees ML

Have the New York Yankees been playing consistently elite baseball of late? Absolutely not, but we will be placing a lot of faith in them playing in Yankee Stadium tonight. Last month, when the Subway Series was in Queens for two games, the Mets won both games in their building, essentially setting them up for their climb up the standings since. Luis Gil will be on the mound tonight, and despite his struggles of late, we’ll trust that he can use the atmosphere to put together a strong outing.

Leg 2: Aaron Judge 2+ Total Bases

Aaron Judge is baseball’s gifted hitter, and while he hasn’t had the most elite July, he’s had four straight games against the Mets with at least two hits. He hits for a higher average and more power at home, so we’ll count on him to get us at least two total bases.

Leg 3: Juan Soto 2+ Total Bases

Touting Aaron Judge and Juan Soto to get two total bases may appear like we’re just betting the chalk – which we are – but these are the only Yankees we can rely on at the plate right now. Since returning from the All-Star break, Soto has gone 11-18 at the plate with seven extra-base hits, so, of course, we’ll rely on his blazing-hot bat here.

Leg 4: Anthony Volpe 1+ Hit

Anthony Volpe has regressed since starting the season as the leadoff hitter to now being stuck down the order, but he’s currently riding a five-game hitting streak. He’s a noticeably better hitter at home, so as a lifelong Yankee fan, I imagine he’ll want to make his mark in Yankee Stadium against the Mets.

Leg 5: Francisco Lindor 1+ Hit

We can’t go with all Yankees in our SGP, so we’ll eye up Francisco Lindor to get a hit, as he’s currently riding a seven-game hitting streak and has hit .294 in July. Let’s ride!
