Leg 1: Lakers Moneyline -255
The Los Angeles Lakers cannot afford to go down 2-0 in their first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Thankfully, the Lakers are poised for an improved effort in Game 2 on Tuesday night.
The Lakers are coming off their worst shooting performance in recent memory. LA went 33-for-83 from the floor, including an abysmal 5-for-41 from distance, culminating in a 39.8% field goal percentage. Undoubtedly, that benchmark will rise in Game 2.
At the same time, the T-Wolves will be unable to match their proficiency from Saturday night. Minnesota had an incredible 51.2% shooting percentage in Game 1, vastly overachieving relative to their season-long average of 46.9%.
The Lakers and Timberwolves are diametrically positioned on the progression-regression spectrum. We don’t expect it to all come crashing down at once, but we’re betting the Lakers leave with the win on Tuesday night.

Leg 2: MEM-OKC Over 229.5 (-110)
In Game 1 of their first-round series against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Oklahoma City Thunder showed just how efficient they are. We anticipate another strong showing on Tuesday night before the series shifts to Tennessee.
The Thunder were unstoppable on Sunday afternoon. OKC dropped 131 on the Grizz, draining 50.5% of their 99 shots. Still, that doesn’t put OKC too far off their usual pace or efficiency. On the season, OKC ranks seventh in field goal percentage with a 48.0% mark. Including Sunday’s win, they are up to 49.5% over their last three.
Moreover, the Grizzlies aren’t as bad as they showed in the series opener. Memphis has the 10th-best shooting percentage in the league, hitting 47.8% of its field goal attempts. On Sunday, they finished nearly 15 points below that mark, hitting only 34.4% of their shots.
Sustained scoring efficiency is inevitable for the Thunder, but we’re betting on an improved showing from the Grizzlies. In the end, we see a playable advantage in betting that this one goes over the total at the Paycom Center.
