4. Memphis Tigers
The Memphis Tigers offered Arterio Morris in high school and were the first school he committed to. Morris visited the Tigers in 2020 and committed to Memphis in July. He stayed committed until January 2021, when he opened his recruitment back up before settling on Texas. The Memphis Tigers have added seven incoming transfers, including former Texas point guard Tyrese Hunter and former George Mason point guard Baraka Okojie. Hunter is capable of playing off the ball. If he were willing to do that, there would be a spot for Morris to get that fresh start he seeks. Penny Hardaway runs a guard-friendly system that could appeal to Morris, and he could find his footing at the American Athletic Conference.

Arterio Morris Looks for a New Start
Former Texas Longhorns and Kansas Jayhawks player Arterio Morris has entered the transfer portal and is looking for his third school in as many seasons as a collegiate player. Morris was a five-star point guard prospect who played the 2022-2023 season with the Texas Longhorns. He averaged 4.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game in nearly 12 minutes of action. Morris was unpleased with his role and transferred to Kansas to play for Bill Self, but he did not see the floor for KU. In August of 2023, Morris was charged with rape after an alleged incident in Lawrence, and he was later dismissed from the Jayhawks. Prosecutors dismissed the charges on April 9 due to insufficient evidence, and Morris entered the portal a day later. The former five-star guard is now looking for a fresh start and has a few reasonable options.
1. Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks offered Arterio Morris in December of 2019. They were one of Morris's first major conference offers, and head coach Dana Altman tried to bring him to Eugene. The Ducks made the NCAA Tournament in 2024 and have a decent roster for the 2024-2025 campaign. That includes incoming transfers Supreme Cook and TJ Bamba. Bamba and Toledo transfer Ra’Heim Moss are both high-powered shooting guards who could use a dynamic point guard to get them the ball. Oregon is heading to the Big Ten, and Altman needs some additional punch if they return to the Big Dance. As a recruit, Morris was known as an athletic guard who could get to the basket at will. If Oregon pursues, it could make sense for both sides.

2. Texas A&M Aggies
The Texas A&M Aggies were one of Arterio Morris’s initial finalists in 2019 before he chose in-state rival Texas. The Aggies lost some key pieces from an NCAA Tournament roster, and they need some additional help to consider returning under head coach Buzz Williams. The Aggies have incoming transfer Zhuric Phelps, a point guard from SMU. That will be helpful, but taking a risk on a player like Arterio Morris, who has a very high ceiling, would make a lot of sense for a program with the resources Texas A&M has. That would make the incoming transfer class pretty stout, with C.J. Wilcher and Pharrel Payne already in the fold.

3. Arkansas Razorbacks
The Arkansas Razorbacks have the top-ranked incoming transfer class under new head coach John Calipari. That class includes guards DJ Wagner and Johnell Davis, wing Adou Thiero, and big men Zvonimir Ivisic and Jonas Aidoo. He also has incoming freshmen Boogie Fland following him to Fayetteville. Fland and Wagner are expected to man the backcourt for the Razorbacks. A player like Arterio Morris would add depth at the guard position and be another reclamation project for Calipari. In addition, Arkansas is relatively close to Morris’s home in Texas. If Arkansas were comfortable with the background work on Morris, he would be a good insurance policy in the backcourt.
