1. Florida State Seminoles
- Head Coach: Mike Norvell (Fired)
- 2026 Record: 3-5 (1-4)
The firing of Mike Norvell may be the best thing to happen to the Florida State Seminoles this season.

The 2026 college football season has entered November and the most disappointing programs are starting to sink to the bottom.
10. NC State Wolfpack
- Head Coach: Dave Doeren (Fired)
- Offensive Coordinator: Kurt Roper
- Defensive Coordinator: D.J. Eliot, Charlton Warren
- 2026 Record: 4-4 (2-3)
The Wolfpack fired head coach Dave Doeren after a loss to Stanford. The Wolfpack fans expected more this season, and the coaching search is targeting Phillip Rivers.
9. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
- Head Coach: Brent Key (5th Season)
- Offensive Coordinator: George Godsey, Chris Weinke
- Defensive Coordinator: Jason Semore
- 2026 Record: 2-6 (1-4)
- Conference: ACC
Hopes were high when Tech brought in Alberto Mendoza, but the rest of the team has been awful.
8. Nebraska Cornhuskers
- Head Coach: Matt Rhule (4th Season)
- Offensive Coordinator: Dana Holgorsen
- Defensive Coordinator: Rob Aurich
- Conference: Big Ten
- Location: Lincoln, Nebraska
- 2026 Record: 5-3 (2-3)
After starting the season 5-0, the Huskers have dropped three straight heartbreakers. This seems to be the annual pattern for Nebraska: they start hot, lose a close one, and don't get back up off the mat.
7. Oregon Ducks
- Head Coach: Dan Lanning (5th Season)
- Offensive Coordinator: Drew Mehringer
- Defensive Coordinator: Chris Hampton
- Conference: Big Ten
- Location: Eugene, Oregon
- Stadium: Autzen Stadium
- 2026 Record: 5-3 (3-2)
The Ducks could move off this list with a win this week at Ohio State, but a team that was a national title favorite will likely miss the CFP.
6. Texas A&M
- Head Coach: Mike Elko (3rd Season)
- Offensive Coordinator: Holmon Wiggins
- Defensive Coordinator: Lyle Hemphill
- 2026 Record: 4-4 (1-4)
- Conference: SEC
- Location: College Station, Texas
The Aggies were a popular College Football Playoff pick but have now lost three of their last five games. They travel to South Carolina this week before hosting Tennessee. A&M could miss out on the postseason altogether.
5. Penn State Nittany Lions
- Head Coach: Matt Campbell (1st Season)
- Offensive Coordinator: Taylor Mouser
- Defensive Coordinator: D'Anton Lynn
- 2026 Record: 4-4 (1-4)
Penn State did hold off Purdue at home, but the Nittany Lions had stumbled far in 2026.
4. Oklahoma Sooners
- Head Coach: Brent Venables (5th Season)
- Offensive Coordinator: Ben Arbuckle (Fired)
- Defensive Coordinator: Todd Bates
- 2026 Record: 4-4 (2-3)
After making the College Football Playoff in 2025, the Sooners had high hopes for 2026. They have not materialized, and their only saving grace is beating rival Texas.
3. Northern Illinois Huskies
- Head Coach: Rob Harley (1st Season) * Interim
- Offensive Coordinator: Quinn Sanders
- Defensive Coordinator: D.J. Bland
- 2026 Record: 0-8 (0-4)
It's been a rough transition to the Mountain West. The Huskies are 0-8 and the only winless team in the FBS.
2. Maryland Terrapins
- Head Coach: Mike Locksley (Fired)
- Offensive Coordinator: Clint Trickett
- Defensive Coordinator: Ted Monachino
- 2026 Record: 2-6 (0-5)
The Terrapins did not have high hopes for 2026, but they have not even met those. Mike Locksley has been fired, Maryland's SID called the cops on student reporters, and the team still has not won a conference game.
1. Florida State Seminoles
- Head Coach: Mike Norvell (Fired)
- 2026 Record: 3-5 (1-4)
The firing of Mike Norvell may be the best thing to happen to the Florida State Seminoles this season.
