It's conflicting on how to rank the Texas Longhorns in 2024. Their strength of schedule hasn't been there, but they remain the only SEC with one loss. The Longhorns failed their test against Georgia, and will need to respond in a big way against the Aggies to close out the year.

15. Auburn Tigers

No matter what you think of the Auburn Tigers as a program, with head coach Hugh Freeze in the mix, there's always going to be headlines worth following here. Just when you think this program might be turning a corner, they revert back to their old ways. All we want to see is some progres

14. Kentucky Wildcats

The Kentucky Wildcats have been a puzzling team to understand early on this season. There have been moments of strong play, but the consistency just hasn't been there.

13. Oklahoma Sooners

It continues to feel strange putting the Oklahoma Sooners in an SEC power ranking, but this is the stuff we have to get used to. Five-star quarterback prospect Jackson Arnold has had some early growing pains for Brent Venables program. It's hard to be confident in what this program is doing in 2024. With continued let downs, the Sooners have told us exactly what this program is right now.

12. Missouri Tigers

The Missouri Tigers are coming off a strong year under head coach Eli Drinkwitz, and they continued to look the part with some key pieces returning on offense. Highlighted by quarterback Brady Cook , along with stud wideout prospect Luther Burden III. . The Tigers have yet to look the part of an SEC threat in 2024. Taking a step back is very disappointing with this talented roster.

11. Arkansas Razorbacks

If you're looking for a head coach whose seat will continue to get warmer with another slow start, look no further than Sam Pittman at Arkansas. The Razorbacks shocked the Volunteers in Week 6, but followed that up with a dud against LSU in Week 8. It's good to see that they can leave games in the past like they did during their dominant Week 9 showing vs. Mississippi State. Overall, it's been an impressive year. Keeping it close against Texas was nice, but another upset would have been the cherry on top of a successful year.

10. Florida Gators

Entering 2024, the future certainly looks better than the present for the Florida Gators. Five-star quarterback DJ Lagway needs more reps this year in a season that's already had its ups and downs. The Gators rocked the LSU Tigers in Week 11, highlighting the improvements they've continued to make as a program.

9. Vanderbilt Commodores

Clark Lea's group picked up a major statement victory in Week 1 against Virginia Tech. The Commodores have been better than expected, and picked up a monster victory in Week 6 by defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide. Who saw that one coming?  Keeping things close against Texas was once again a step in the right direction, but a blowout loss to South Carolina didn't help.

8. LSU Tigers

It's promising to see the LSU Tigers back in the mix as a top program in college football. Brian Kelly's squad will be led by quarterback Garrett Nussmeier . The Tigers knocked themselves out of the College Football Playoff picture with a loss to Florida in Week 12.

7. South Carolina Gamecocks

When you consider where we had the Gamecocks ranked beginning the year, this has been a majorly successful campaign. The Gamecocks pulled off another strong victory over Missouri in Week 12.

6. Texas A&M Aggies

We entered the year fairly high on this Texas A&M program. Mike Elko has done a bang up job in reshaping this roster, and even though there were some positives in Week 1 against Notre Dame, a loss on the big stage is still a loss. The Aggies posted a signature win in Week 9 over LSU, and followed that up with a dud against South Carolina. Let's see how they respond at the end of their schedule. We know the date everyone has circled at the end of the year.

5. Tennessee Volunteers

It's hard to get a complete read on what we've seen from the Tennessee Volunteers this year. The Vols picked up a big win against Alabama, but didn't look nearly as strong on the road in Athens. The path is still there for Tennessee to make the College Football Playoff.

4. Georgia Bulldogs

What an interesting year it's been for the Georgia Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have dropped contests to Ole Miss and Alabama, but they also boast signature wins against Tennessee, Texas, and Clemson. With the Bulldogs victory over Tennessee, winning out should secure their place in the College Football Playoff.

3. Ole Miss Rebels

The Ole Miss Rebels looked the part of a national title contender in their dominant home win against Georgia in Week 11. The Rebels have a path to the SEC Championship Game and College Football Playoff without suffering another blemish on their resume.

2. Alabama Crimson Tide

With Nick Saban retiring, a new era is upon us with the Alabama Crimson Tide under head coach Kalen DeBoer. The Crimson Tide knocked off Georgia in Week 5 on the back of a dominant first half. You simply can't follow up a huge win with losses to Vanderbilt and Tennessee. Still, the Crimson Tide have put together big wins against Georgia and LSU. That has them comfortable in the SEC title and College Football Playoff picture.
