The Steelers have been strong at developing talent on defense. Look no further than T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. The early headlines going into training camp are that expectations will be high for Calvin Austin III. The speedy wideout has the chance to really take a big step forward in 2024, and we'll certainly get some sort of an idea how ready he is to make that jump in training camp and the preseason. The talent has already been shown in flashes, but can he bring consistency for this offense?

Even with Russell Wilson leading the way in the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback room, 2024 training camp will be very important for Justin Fields. It's unknown how long Wilson will be in the mix with the Steelers, and Fields needs a contract heading into next year. A strong showing in training camp and the preseason could very well give the Steelers brass some confidence about locking Fields up. Going from being a starter in Chicago and taking a step back in Pittsburgh to the backup role won't be easy, but this is a very important year in the development for Fields.
