Kansas City Chiefs

Until proven otherwise, I'm not counting out Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs control their own destiny to have the AFC bracket run through Arrowhead. That could be a problem for the rest of the conference. Still, even though the Chiefs have only suffered one loss this year, they seem more vulnerable than in previous seasons.

Philadelphia Eagles

I'll put my hand up, the Philadelphia Eagles have surprised me this year. I didn't think they'd put together a stretch with nine straight wins on their schedule this year. The Eagles can run the football and play quality defense. That's a recipe for success in January.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are a serious threat to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. Josh Allen is having an MVP-caliber season, and the Bills have been on the cusp for a while. I wouldn't want to play this team in January.

Green Bay Packers

Although the Green Bay Packers failed to win any of their games against top contenders in Philadelphia or Detroit, they've proven they can keep those games close. We're not here to tout moral victories, but the Packers have the makeup of a group that can make a deep run.

Pittsburgh Steelers

There's a definite path to the Steelers hosting multiple playoff games in the AFC bracket. If that's the case, the Steelers will be a serious threat in the conference. With a high-end defense and an offense that can do a little bit of everything, don't underestimate Mike Tomlin and company.
