NFL Week 2 Fantasy Football: Start ’em or Sit ’em?

TE Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers project to run the football a ton against the Denver Broncos in Week 2. Don't expect a lot of passing yards from Pittsburgh on Sunday in the Mile High.

QB Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
One of my favorite starts of the week is Baker Mayfield in the dome vs. Detroit. Mayfield is already coming off a four touchdown performance against Washington, and this high total matchup screams upside performance again. Don't hesitate to start Mayfield, even over some of the bigger named QBs this week.
Start or Sit: Start Mayfield
QB Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
Overall, you can be excited about what Justin Herbert can do with the Los Angeles Chargers from a team standpoint. From a fantasy perspective? Not so much. The Chargers are road favorites in their matchup against the Carolina Panthers and project to run the football a ton.
Start or Sit: Sit Herbert
QB Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders
It might not have impressed you in actual football terms, but if you weren't impressed with Jayden Daniels fantasy output in Week 1, you're just lying to yourself. Daniels rushing upside is elite, and he's entering another juicy matchup against the lowly New York Giants.
Start or Sit: Start Daniels

RB D'Andre Swift, Chicago Bears
If you looked at the snap count for D'Andre Swift in Week 1, it was certainly encouraging. On the other hand, the Chicago Bears were consistently trailing in this matchup, and Swift saw only one target through the air. That's a massive red flag for us, especially going on the road in a matchup where the Bears are sizable underdogs.
Start or Sit: Sit Swift
RB J.K. Dobbins, Los Angeles Chargers
J.K. Dobbins looked like he got shot out of a cannon in Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders, and he has an even better matchup in Week 2 against Carolina. Injuries will always be a concern with Dobbins, but after how electric he looked in the opener, it's impossible to sit him in this juicy matchup.
Start or Sit: Start Dobbins
RB Zamir White, Las Vegas Raiders
The usage for Zamir White in Week 1 was very discouraging. Head coach Antonio Pierce has preached that they'll run with the hot hand, and it appears there's more competition than we expected in this running back room. Factor in that the Raiders are a near double-digit underdog on the road in Baltimore, and you have a clear fade on your hands.

WR Malik Nabers, New York Giants
There was a lot to like about how Malik Nabers looked in his NFL debut, even if his numbers didn't jump off the page. Nabers was limited in practice on Thursday and that's something to keep an eye on, but if he plays, this is a monster smash spot against Washington.
Start or Sit: Start Nabers if Playing
WR Amari Cooper, Cleveland Browns
It was discouraging as a whole for the Cleveland Browns passing offense in Week 1, and we're not expecting any major changes in Week 2. The Browns are going to run the football a ton, and that doesn't bode well for a player that demands a lot of targets like Amari Cooper.
Start or Sit: Sit Cooper
WR Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints
If you looked at the score from the New Orleans Saints big Week 1 win, you'd likely expect some production from their top weapon in Chris Olave. Wrong. Olave is in a prime bounce back spot here, and we're projecting him as a WR1 type option this week.
Start or Sit: Start Olave

TE Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders
Brock Bowers is a player we're going to be targeting a lot this year. In a matchup where the Raiders project to be trailing, Bowers should eat as the second-biggest target earner on this roster.
Start or Sit: Start Bowers
