The rematch everyone is rooting for: USA will host Canada in the final at TD Garden.
Canada will be motivated by revenge, looking to make amends for its earlier loss in the tournament. Instead of forcing the issue offensively, the Canadians will emphasize possession and offensive zone time, keeping the States' attack at bay. As is the case whenever these teams meet on the biggest stage, overtime will be required to determine the winner.
Extra space in OT will allow McDavid to deliver the Canadians to victory, pulling off a modest upset in the tournament finale.
Predicted Outcome: Canada 4 - USA 3 (OT)

The puck drops on the NHL's 4 Nations Face-Off on Wednesday night. Canada and Sweden have the honors, with the first of four games being played at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Expect a raucous home crowd to lift the Canadians to victory.
Canada's scoring depth is unrivaled. Three of the NHL's top five leading scorers are skating on their top two lines. Not surprisingly, Connor McDavid is the first-line center, skating next to Mitch Marner and Sam Reinhart. Nathan MacKinnon centers the second line, flanked by Sidney Crosby and Mark Stone. Those two lines will do damage all tournament long, but they face a tougher-than-expected battle against a stout Sweden team.
While the Canadians would prefer to get into a track meet, this first test will test their defensive resolve. Canada narrowly escapes with the win.
Round Robin: USA vs Finland
- Location: Bell Centre (Montreal, QC)
- Time: Thursday, February 13, 8:00 p.m. ET | Where to Watch: ESPN/ESPN+
- Spread: USA -1.5 | Moneyline: USA -350 | Total: 5.5
A quick look at the betting board shows the odds are heavily stacked against the Finns. Their tournament-opening odds against the USA foreshadow what should be a one-sided affair.
The USA has depth to spare when it comes to scoring. Jack Eichel, Kyle Connor, and Matthew Tkachuk are the projected first line, complemented by Auston Matthews, Jack Hughes, and Jake Guentzel on the second unit. While Finland is stacked with solid complementary scorers, they don't possess the depth to compete.
The States should have no problem flexing their offensive muscles and skating to victory.
Predicted Outcome: USA 5 - Finland 1
Round Robin: Finland vs Sweden
- Location: Bell Centre (Montreal, QC)
- Time: Saturday, February 15, 1:00 p.m. ET | Where to Watch: ABC/ESPN+
- Spread: Sweden -1.5 | Moneyline: Sweden -194 | Total: 5.5
The Swedes typically play a possession-driven game, giving them an advantage against the Finns in the round-robin. Still, Finland's goalies should be up to the task in La Belle Province.
Juuse Saros is projected to get the brunt of the work in the 4 Nations Face-Off, and he's well-equipped to stymie Sweden. It's far from his best statistical campaign, but the Finnish netminder can be relied upon to come up big. Saros has a career .921 even strength save percentage and a .834 high-danger save percentage.
Sweden lacks tremendous firepower, setting Saros up to save the day. We're betting Finland pulls off the upset in Saturday's matinee.
Predicted Outcome: Finland 3 - Sweden 2
Round Robin: USA vs Canada
- Location: Bell Centre (Montreal, QC)
- Time: Saturday, February 15, 8:00 p.m. ET | Where to Watch: ABC/ESPN+/Disney+
- Spread: Canada -1.5 | Moneyline: Canada -126 | Total: 5.5
Inarguably, this is the contest everyone is most excited about. A Saturday night tilt between Canada and the United States. Canada is a slight favorite, but we expect the USA to pull off the unexpected upset.
Goaltending is an issue for the Canadians. No disrespect to Jordan Binnington, but his .896 save percentage this season doesn't inspire much confidence. Moreover, he's not far off his career average of .906. Even with a stacked lineup, the Canadians are vulnerable to a potent offense like the USA.
This could shock Canada, but the USA should be the favorite.
Predicted Outcome: USA 4 - Canada 3

The 4 Nations Face-Off changes venues at the start of next week, with the tournament shifting to Boston. There, Canada will take on Finland in a holiday Monday matinee.
If things go as planned, this game could determine which team snags the second seed and a spot in the final. Expect a ferocious Canadian attack to come out firing on all cylinders. The Finns will be able to stifle them early, but it's just a matter of time before Canada breaks through.
A late-game surge puts this one out of reach, with Canada securing the second seed.
Predicted Outcome: Canada 5 - Finland 2
Round Robin: Sweden vs USA

- Time: Monday, February 17, 8:00 p.m. ET | Where to Watch: TNT
- Spread: USA -1.5 | Moneyline: USA -225 | Total: 5.5
For the first time in this tournament, the USA's offense will be tested against the defensive-minded Swedes.
Despite their best efforts, the States will struggle to penetrate Sweden's attacking zone, and Sweden's goalies will be up to the task when they do. An opportunistic attack will give the visitors a lead late in the game. Special teams scoring will be the difference, allowing the USA to pull even before heading into overtime.
This will be another low-scoring, tight-checking affair for the Swedes. An overtime winner puts USA at the front of the pack, helping them secure the top seed heading into the Final.
Predicted Outcome: USA 3 - Sweden 2 (OT)
