St. Louis Blues: Zack Bolduc - Pavel Buchnevich - Jordan Kyrou
Schedule: vs. Minnesota Wild (Oct. 15), vs. New York Islanders (Oct. 17), vs. Carolina Hurricanes (Oct. 19)
The St. Louis Blues second line of Zack Bolduc, Pavel Buchnevich, and Jordan Kyrou have quietly asserted themselves as one of the best in the league. While Bolduc has only appeared in two games, the forward grouping has combined for five goals and ten points. Moreover, they're getting more opportunities than any other line in the attacking zone, starting 37 of their 65 shifts in the attacking end. Predictably, that correlates with top-end production with the Blues' forwards accounting for 28 scoring and 10 high-danger chances. Their hot start continues with three home games this week.Â

New Jersey Devils: Timo Meier - Jack Hughes - Jesper Bratt
Schedule: @ Carolina Hurricanes (Oct. 15), @ Ottawa Senators (Oct. 17), vs Washington Capitals (Oct. 19)
Much of the attention in the Metropolitan Division is directed to teams other than the New Jersey Devils, but it's worth paying attention to what comes next for their top line. Timo Meier, Jack Hughes, and Jesper Bratt have been one of the best analytics lines in the NHL, accumulating a jaw-dropping 69.5% expected goals-for rating this season. They've out-chanced their opponents by a 54-17 margin in scoring chances and a 22-10 gap in high-danger opportunities. While they've enjoyed some modest success, the best has yet to come.Â
Buffalo Sabres: Jiri Kulich - Dylan Cozens - Jack Quinn
Schedule: @ Pittsburgh Penguins (Oct. 16), @ Columbus Blue Jackets (Oct. 17), @ Chicago Blackhawks (Oct. 19)
The Buffalo Sabres are on the ice three times this week, and each game represents a solid opportunity to get a piece of their second line. Centered by Dylan Cozens, Jack Quinn and Jiri Kulich are primed for a breakout performance entering the second week of the season. All three players have combined for just one assist on the season, but their metrics point toward an increase in output. Across all strengths, the youngsters have combined for 14 scoring and five high-danger chances and have generated 24 shots. We're anticipating a flood of goals against three relatively weak opponents.Â

Toronto Maple Leafs: Matthew Knies - Auston Matthews - Mitch Marner
Schedule: vs. Los Angeles Kings (Oct. 16), vs. New York Rangers (Oct.19)
There are only two games on the Toronto Maple Leafs schedule this week, but we expect those to be productive outings for the line of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and Matthew Knies. Toronto's top line is off to a tepid start to the season. Collectively, they've recorded a paltry three points, but the biggest surprise has been Matthews being kept off the scoresheet. Nevertheless, they remain a dominant analytics line, generating a monstrous 66.3% Corsi rating and an even more impressive 75.7% expected goals-for rating across all strengths. Matthews and Company will break out in a big way this week.
Utah Hockey Club: Jack McBain - Logan Cooley - Dylan Guenther
Schedule: @ Anaheim Ducks (Oct. 16), vs. Boston Bruins (Oct. 19)
Things couldn't have gone better for the Utah Hockey Club in their first week of existence. They surprised everyone with a 3-0-0 start to the season, getting production from top to bottom. The top line of Clayton Keller, Barrett Hayton, and Nick Schmaltz stole the show in Week 1, but we expect the second unit to make up ground this week. Led by Dylan Guenther and his six goals, linemates Jack McBain and Logan Cooley should see their production jump to match Guenther's output. The trio has been effective at creating chances, but their 0.985 PDO implies that everyone is due for an increase in scoring.Â
