SportsGrid’s Best NHL Bets & Player Props for February 27

There’s a large slate in the NHL today, with value on the board worth considering.

SportsGrid looks at the top hockey bets and props for Tuesday’s action.

Stay ahead of the game and elevate your sports betting experience with SportsGrid.

7:00 p.m. ET – Washington Capitals vs. Detroit Red Wings

Puck Line: Red Wings – 1.5 | Moneyline: Red Wings Moneyline -172 | Total: 6.5 (O +110, U -134)

Where to Watch: BSDET, MNMT2 | Location: Little Caesars Arena (Detroit, MI)

It’s been a solid stretch of play for the Detroit Red Wings lately, who’ve established a buffer in the Eastern Conference playoff race after stringing together five straight wins and a 7-2-1 record over their last ten games. Opposite the Red Wings will be the Washington Capitals, who are 5-3-2 over that same sample size. Over the Red Wings’ previous five games, they’ve seen three of those go under the number. We’ll stick with that trend tonight at home.

SportsGrid’s Best Bet: Under 6.5 (-134) | SportsGrid Projections: 5 Star Rating

7:00 p.m. ET – Arizona Coyotes vs. Montreal Canadiens

Puck Line: Coyotes- 1.5 | Moneyline: Coyotes Moneyline -115 | Total: 6.5 (O -106, U -114)

Where to Watch: TSN2, RDS, SCRIPPS | Location: Centre Bell (Montreal, QC)

Two of the NHL’s worst teams will collide from the Bell Centre in Montreal tonight, with the Habs hosting the lowly Coyotes. The Canadiens have lost five in a row and posted a 2-7-1 record over their last ten, while the Coyotes have lost ten in a row and are 0-8-2. It’s hard to have a ton of confidence in either side right now, but the Canadiens at least have some positive underlying numbers, leading to us siding with them as a slight home underdog this evening.

SportsGrid’s Best Bet: Under 6.5 (-134) | SportsGrid Projections: 5 Star Rating

Auston Matthews – Toronto Maple Leafs to Score a Goal

If you’re looking for the hottest goal scorer in hockey, you’ve found him here. Auston Matthews has been shooting the lights out for the Toronto Maple Leafs and consistently finding the back of the net. It’s not often you see a player with some juice on their price tag to score, but that’s the case for the league’s leading goal scorer. Still, Matthews has tallied seven goals in his last five games, and we’re not about to start fading him now.

SportsGrid’s Best Bet: Matthews to Score (-120) | SportsGrid Projections: 5 Star Rating

Brayden Point – Tampa Bay Lightning to Score a Goal

The Tampa Bay Lightning continue to chug along in the Eastern Conference playoff race, and a big reason for that is their star players Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov. Point has had another dynamite campaign for the Lightning, tallying 62 points in 60 games, including 30 goals. In a nice matchup tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers, backing Point to add to his goal total has value at +165

SportsGrid’s Best Bet: Point to Score (+165) | SportsGrid Projections: 5 Star Rating

Robert Thomas – St. Louis Blues to Score a Goal

The St. Louis Blues remain right in the Western Conference playoff mix, and one reason is their depth scoring. Up top, they’ve been led by Robert Thomas, who’s tallied 65 points over 57 games. Thomas and the Blues will visit the Winnipeg Jets in an important Central Division clash. In these types of matchups, we love targeting players who get up for these big matchups, which is why we like Thomas’s value to score at +310

SportsGrid’s Best Bet: Thomas to Score (+310) | SportsGrid Projections: 5 Star Rating
