Copa 2024 Final: Argentina vs. Colombia, Prediction, Best Bet

After a month of exciting soccer, two teams have earned themselves a spot at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. Argentina is looking to join Spain as the only nation to win three straight major titles. Colombia has not been to a Copa America final in 23 years; a win would give them their second major international trophy.

Argentina topped their group after beating Canada and Peru and drawing with Chile. However, it hasn’t always looked convincing on their end. Chile’s physicality seemed to bother them, and they were a bit fortunate to get the three points in that contest. Once the knockouts started, people believed they would kick into gear, but it hasn’t quite transpired that way. They needed penalties to beat Ecuador and almost lost that one in the dying seconds. In the Semifinals, they faced Canada again and held off an early blitz by the Canadians to another 2-0 win.

There is a reason Argentina is closing in on a bit of history. This star-studded squad has some veterans who have done it on the highest level while getting valuable contributions from fresh faces. Julian Alvarez is following up his four-goal World Cup with two goals at this Copa America, and when he gets subbed off, they can bring on Lautaro Martinez. Martinez is leading the race to the Golden Boot with eight goals, and despite not having a vintage tournament, Lionel Messi can still conjure up magic.

Colombia may not have as many household names, but it is one of the best teams in the tournament. They topped a tricky group after beating Costa Rica and Paraguay and holding Brazil to a draw. They’ve been just as impressive in the knockout stages. Colombia has not conceded a single goal since the group stage and scored six goals. Beating Panama was not a challenge, but Los Cafeteros had to dig deep to beat Uruguay in the Semifinals after going down to ten men before the half.

A massive reason for Colombia’s form is James Rodriguez. He continues to put in man-of-the-match performances, so much so that he broke Messi’s record for most assists at the Copa America, currently sitting on six. The attack for Colombia is its strong point; Luis Diaz and Jhon Cordoba both have two goals in the competition and have been making the most of Rodriguez’s playmaking abilities. They will be a bit short handed in the finals, Daniel Munoz is suspended so Santiago Arias will slot in for him.

Copa America Final Argentina vs. Colombia Best Bet

This one is a no-brainer. If Colombia can find the back of the net, it’s almost a certainty that James Rodriguez will be involved. Not only is he in blistering form, but he has also assisted in both knockout games. Los Cafeteros have plenty of attacking talent, and Rodriguez puts them in good positions to succeed. Of the twelve goals that Colombia has scored, Rodriguez has assisted six.

Best Bet: James Rodriguez Anytime Assist (+550)

Copa America Argentina vs. Colombia Best Prop Bet

The first two bets go hand in hand, as the recipient of James’s cross, Jefferson Lerma, is the focus of our prop bet. It is not just recency bias due to his goal; Lerma has had a shot in every single game at the Copa America. Even more importantly, he has had a shot on target in two of the last four matches. The Crystal Palace defender has made it a point to attack the net and could once again make a difference on a corner or a free kick.

Best Prop: Jefferson Lerma 1 or more shots on Target (+210)

Copa America Argentina vs. Colombia Best Anytime Goal Bet

If you pick a goal scorer in the game, it must be Julian Alvarez. After his goal against Canada, he became the fourth player to score in a World Cup and Copa America Semifinal. He joins Lionel Messi, Romario, and Diego Forlan in a very exclusive and talented club. Despite starting most of the games for Argentina, he is getting worse odds than Lautaro Martinez. Even if he does not start, if Argentina throws him on to chase an equalizer or break the deadlock, he has shown he’s a big-moment player.

Anytime Goal Scorer: Julian Alvarez (+320)

Copa America Argentina vs. Colombia Prediction

Both teams have talent and have shown an ability to win ugly. This game will be decided on the finest of margins. Colombia will be motivated to claim a second international trophy and put a cap on the James Rodriguez redemption story. Meanwhile, Argentina can join Spain as one of the most dominant national sides ever and send off Angel Di Maria on a high note. As much fun as it has been to watch Colombia play, the fairytale may be over. Finals are difficult experience counts, and Argentina has a deep well to draw from. One which includes Emi Martinez, who is no stranger to playing hero. It will be a crowning achievement for Messi and Co. at his club’s home stadium.

Argentina 1 – Colombia  0
