5) Lance Leipold, Head Coach Kansas Jayhawks
If you're not impressed with how Lance Leipold has helped turn around the Kansas Jayhawks football program, you're watching a different sport than the rest of us. The Jayhawks are once again bowl-eligible and have the money to offer him a lucrative extension. Can Texas A&M offer a more desirable landing spot?
1) Mike Elko, Head Coach Duke Blue Devils
The familiarity between Mike Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies will surely put him in the conversation to be their next head coach. Theoretically, you can even make a strong case he's the front-runner. Elko served as the Aggies defensive coordinator from 2018-2021 and has helped rejuvenate this Duke program, especially on defense. Elko will be a strong name to watch as this process takes place.
2) Lane Kiffin, Head Coach Ole Miss Rebels
Lane Kiffin is a polarizing figure in college football, but you can't deny the success he's helped bring to the Ole Miss program. Kiffin continues to be one of the biggest names in the sport, but will that be enough to help land him in the sights of the Aggies? Texas A&M has to get their next hire right, and Kiffin should at least be part of the discussion.
3) Mike Norvell, Head Coach Florida State Seminoles
Mike Norvell has helped establish a winning culture with the Florida State Seminoles, who're also in the national title conversation in 2023. Norvell has helped FSU recruit at a high level, and the performance has been there on the field. We know the history between Jimbo Fisher and the Seminoles, will the Aggies go back to the well at FSU?
4) Dan Lanning, Head Coach Oregon Ducks
If you're looking at a young coach who has the college football world talking, Dan Lanning with the Oregon Ducks is your guy. The 37-year-old Ducks head coach might have a $20 million buyout in his contract, but the Aggies have shown they have even deeper pockets than we suspected with the buyout of Fisher. Can the Aggies do enough to bring in Lanning?
