Host · Writer

ESPN’s exclusive coverage of the NCAA Division 1 Baseball Tournament continues on Friday, June 7, with comprehensive coverage of every pitch during the NCAA Baseball Super Regionals Presented by Capital One. As eight teams vie for their chance to advance to Omaha, all eight best-of-three series will be broadcast across ESPN platforms from June 7-10, including ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU. Fans can also stream all games live on the ESPN App and ESPN+.

Coverage of the college baseball postseason is further enriched with Squeeze Play Presented by Capital One, airing on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET and Sunday at noon on ESPN+. Hosts Kris Budden and Matt Schick, along with analyst Mike Rooney, will provide viewers with multi-game coverage, scores, highlights, and more. The Squeeze Play from the Regional Round, which aired on ABC from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, averaged 597K viewers, marking it the second-best Squeeze Play on record.

The Path

The regional round of this year’s tournament was the most-watched on record, averaging 308K viewers across ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU. This represents a 16% increase year-over-year and a 59% increase from two years ago. It was also the most-consumed College Baseball Regional round ever across linear and ESPN+ in total minutes watched. The matchups between UNC and LSU were particularly popular, with Monday’s Game 7 drawing an average of 964K viewers, 212K more than the previous high for a regional game.

In the Super Regionals, the SEC and ACC are well-represented, each with five teams advancing. The ACC teams that hosted during the regional round—North Carolina, Clemson, Florida State, Virginia, and NC State—advanced with a combined record of 15-1. Over the past two years, the SEC has sent 11 teams to the Super Regionals.

The regional round featured record-breaking moments, including six walk-offs on Friday and seven games decided in extra innings. Evansville became the ninth No. 4 seed to win a regional in the 64-team era, and five No. 3 seeds—West Virginia, UConn, Kansas State, Oregon, and Florida—advanced to the Super Regionals.

Major Storylines

According to ESPN Baseball Insider Kiley McDaniel, the Super Regional round will showcase 11 of the top-40 MLB Draft prospects, including four of the top-five prospects. Seven of the top-eight overall seeds are still in contention, including No. 1 Tennessee, No. 2 Kentucky, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 North Carolina, No. 6 Clemson, No. 7 Georgia, and No. 8 Florida State. The past four national champions—LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt—have been eliminated, while Oregon State (2018), Florida (2017), and Virginia (2015) remain in the field.

Additional details about the Men’s College World Series coverage will be announced in the coming weeks. For all scheduling updates throughout the NCAA Baseball Tournament, stay tuned to ESPN.

ESPN will deploy its deep roster of play-by-play voices and baseball analysts to cover each of the eight Super Regional sites, ensuring fans don’t miss a moment of the action.
