2025 Masters Preview: Breaking Down the Betting Odds at Augusta

Grant White

Host · Writer

Every year, the most hallowed tournament in golf captivates even the most casual observers. The 2025 Masters Tournament will be no different.

All of the top golfers from around the world have descended on Augusta, looking to capture the coveted green jacket. To do so, they’ll have to dethrone defending champion Scottie Scheffler in what will undoubtedly be another exhilarating tournament.

We’re breaking down the top favorites, mid-range betting options, and longshots in the 2025 Masters.

2025 Master Tournament Preview – The Favorites

Scottie Scheffler +470

Not surprisingly, you will find Scottie Scheffler atop the Masters future board. The defending champion has won two of the last three tournaments, becoming just the 18th golfer in history to collect multiple green jackets.

While he has yet to capture a tour win in 2025, Scheffler’s analytics profile is tailor-made for success at Augusta. The American gains strokes off the tee and around the green better than any other golfer on tour, which, as we’ve seen, is the recipe for success.

If you like his chances of repeating, the price on Scheffler isn’t getting any lower. Once he tees off, Scheffler will almost immediately move toward the top of the leaderboard.

Rory McIlroy +675

A Masters Championship continues to evade Rory McIlroy. But this could be the year it all comes together for Northern Ireland’s finest.

McIlroy is in fine form entering the 2025 tournament. He’s placed T17 or better in every event this year and already has two victories. Most notably, McIlroy bested J.J. Spaun in a playoff for The Players Championship, showing nerves of steel that have been missing from McIlroy’s game for over ten years.

Without a major victory since 2014, McIlroy has been stuck in a decade-long funk. Given his current form, he is our preferred front-runner and is worth backing.

2025 Master Tournament Preview – Mid-Range Bets

Collin Morikawa +1500

Currently fourth in the FedEx standings, Collin Morikawa has been knocking on the door all season. He’s made the cut in all five tournaments he’s played this season, with two runner-up finishes, three top tens, and never finishing lower than T17.

The key to victory for Morikawa will be his play around the greens. Putting isn’t his strong suit, so giving himself makeable putts is key. Given his recent play, backing Morikawa at +260 to finish Top 5 might be the right play.

Xander Schauffele +2400

Xander Schaffele has come painstakingly close to winning The Masters on multiple occasions. He finished tied for second back in 2019, adding three more top-10 finishes since then. A rib injury kept Schauffele out for over two months, but he’s rounding into form at precisely the right time.

After imploding at The Players Championship, the two-time major winner is coming off a T12 performance in the Valspar Championship. If he keeps his tee shots in play, Schauffele can separate himself from the pack with his play around the greens.

Ludvig Aberg +1900

Last year, Ludvig Aberg showed that he’s a prime candidate to upset The Masters. Coming off consecutive missed cuts,  Aberg’s perceived value has taken a bit of a hit. Nevertheless, he remains among the top value candidates in 2025.

Aberg remains one of the most proficient golfers off the tee. As we see every year, keeping those shots in play is crucial to maintaining scores at or around par. If his iron game is on point, there may be no stopping him from earning the first major victory of his career.

2025 Master Tournament Preview – Longshots

Sepp Straka +6000

Value bettors will want to get a piece of Sepp Straka before The Masters tees off. The Austrian has been a solid play all season and has been on point with his latest efforts.

With ten events under his belt, Straka has made the cut in all but one of those tournaments. More impressively, he has one win and three top-ten finishes. His approach game is better than most golfers in the tournament, and minimizing his putter use is key to victory.

Sungjae Im +12000

It hasn’t been a banner year for Sungjae Im. The Korean has missed the cut in three of his last four majors, including the 2024 Masters. Still, his latest efforts have been more inspired, and we could see him peak at Augusta.

While his mid-range game is lacking, which is a deterrent at Augusta, Im does plenty right off the tee and with his putting. He can make big moves up the leaderboard if he’s dialed in there.

Taylor Pendrith +14000

Most years, a Canadian seemingly comes out of nowhere and is in contention at the Masters. Corey Connors has been that guy more recently, but we’re betting Taylor Pendrith takes up that mantle in 2025.

Pendrith has been a solid longshot bet all season. He already has three top-ten finishes in 2025 and is coming off his best result of the season. He carded a -15 in the Texas Children’s Houston Open, cracking the top five.

Pendrith excels off the tee and is proficient around the greens. If he can limit his putting mistakes, he could add an exclusive green jacket to his collection. Arguably, Pendrith is the top value play in the 2025 Masters.

2025 Master Tournament Preview – Final Thoughts

Like every golfer teeing it up at Augusta, bettors must stick their approach ahead of The Masters. The favorites have earned their position atop the futures board, but assuredly, a longshot will be in play late on Sunday. Whatever the outcome, the Masters’ lore will continue to grow this weekend.
