MLB All-Star Game +2000 SGP: NL or AL Coming Out on Top?

The MLB All-Star Game is here, and the stage is set in Arlington, Texas. After an entertaining Home Run Derby last night, we hope for another eventual showcase tonight. Paul Skenes and Corbin Burnes will be the starters for each league, with the American League coming in as a slight favorite, so we worked up an ultimate same-game parlay for the action.

Leg 1: National League ML
I understand that the American League has dominated the All-Star Game forever and that this game will be played in an American League ballpark, but I don’t care. Paul Skenes has captivated the MLB landscape, and whether he ends up going two or three innings, I expect he’ll dominate, laying the foundation for the rest of the NL to carry the momentum. At the plate, on paper, the AL may appear to be deeper, but I’m confident riding with guys like Shohei Ohtani and Bryce Harper to lead the charge any day of the week. The NL won this game last year, so I’m hoping they are eager to start a streak of victories as the AL had for years.
Leg 2: UNDER 7.5
The All-Star Game has had fewer than 7.5 runs for four straight years and six of the last seven games. Pitching always dominates these games, so I’ll trust the trends and expect the game total to go under.
Leg 3: Trea Turner 1+ Hit
It can be challenging to tout hitting props in the ASG, as it’s not always guaranteed that every starter will see at least two at-bats. We’ll target hot bats who are nearly guaranteed to step up to the plate multiple times. First, Trea Turner to get us a hit. He’s been blazing hot in July with a .417 batting average and is 4-10 in his career against Burnes.
Leg 4: Adley Rutschman 1+ Hit
On the AL side, I’m struggling to tout anyone at the top of the order, given how much I expect Skenes to dominate through the first two innings. However, in the third inning, when Adley Rutschman comes to the plate for his first at-bat, I expect it to be against a left-handed pitcher like Max Fried or Shota Imanaga. During the season, Rutschman has an absurd .378 batting average against lefties and is a noticeably better hitter away from Camden Yards. As the starting catcher, he’s our best option as he won’t face Skenes and is a near-lock to get two at-bats as the starting catcher.
