MLB SGP: +1100 Philadelphia Phillies @ Boston Red Sox

The Philadelphia Phillies return to the U.S. from London after splitting with the New York Mets across the pond, but they stay on the road as they’re in Fenway Park to take on the Boston Red Sox tonight. NL Cy Young Favorite Zack Wheeler gets the ball for the Phils while the struggling Kutter Crawford takes the mound for the Sox, prompting us to work up an ultimate same-game parlay.

Valued at +1100, let’s ride!

Leg 1: Phillies ML

I’m concerned about the Phillies in this spot tonight because going from London to a road trip is brutal. What schedule maker thought that was a good idea? Regardless, Zack Wheeler is arguably the best pitcher in baseball, and it seems like nothing fazes him. The Phils’ hitters may be jet-lagged, but luckily, Kutter Crawford has been brutal lately, allowing at least four earned runs in each of his last three starts. Even though the schedule-makers did the Phils no favors, they have enough going their way tonight to pull out a win.

Leg 2: Zack Wheeler 6+ Strikeouts

Zack Wheeler has struck out at least six in eight of his last ten starts, and the Red Sox have struck out at the fourth-highest clip in all of baseball this season. An elite pitcher versus a strikeout-happy lineup… seems simple enough!

Leg 3: Nick Castellanos 2+ Total Bases

Nick Castellanos has seemed to get his swagger back at the plate over the past two weeks, so I’m willing to roll the dice with him to get at least two total bases. He has at least a hit in nine of his ten games, but of those nine games, he’s recorded at least two total bases in six. Crawford has struggled on the mound, so someone has to make them pay. Tonight, Casty will play a part in that.

Leg 4: Bryce Harper 1+ Hit

Bryce Harper has at least a single hit in seven of his last nine games, and frankly, I’ll trust an elite hitter against a struggling pitcher any day of the week.

Leg 5: Alec Bohm 1+ Hit

Alec Bohm has been slumping a bit lately, but looking at his splits, he’s batting .306 against righties and .330 on the road compared to just .258 at home. Despite the slump, Bohm is still an elite hitter who should be able to laser one off of the left-field green monster.

Leg 6: Rafael Devers 1+ Hit

Alex Cora expects his slugger back in the lineup tonight after an injury scare that kept Rafael Devers out of Sunday’s game. We’ll take Cora at his word and count on him to get us a hit, as he did in seven straight games before getting injured on Saturday.

Leg 7: Rob Refsnyder 1+ Hit

Rob Refsnyder has been mashing in the middle of the Red Sox lineup, recording at least a hit in 11 of his last 12 games. That’s good enough for me!
