Game 5 of the National League Divisional Series, featuring the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers, is set for tonight. The winner will advance to face the New York Mets in the NLCS. With everything on the line, tonight is going to be a great battle, so of course, we had to work up an ultimate same-game parlay for the action.
Valued at +1200! Let’s ride!
Leg 1: Padres ML
Tonight will be a tough game on the road for these Padres, but they have shown an ability to win anywhere and in any scenario, so I feel no reason to stray away from them as the underdog. Plus, I picked them to advance before the series started. There is no reason to turn back now. Thursday night’s embarrassing home loss was certainly discouraging, but I am counting on these bats to show life against Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who they dominated in Game 2 of this series. Yu Darvish will take the mound for the Padres, and he gave them seven strong outings in Game 2 and provides the postseason track record to be ready to perform in this win-or-go-home environment. I’m still convinced that the Padres are the deeper team with a stronger body of work over the past few months, so I’ll ride with them until the wheels fall off.
Leg 2: Fernando Tatis Jr. 2+ Total Bases
The Padres aren’t winning this game unless Fernando Tatis Jr. gives them a big contribution at the plate, and he’s been ridiculous this postseason as he sports a .500 batting average across six games with a 1.759 OPS, having recorded at least two total bases in every game this series. That’s good enough for us.
Leg 3: Jurickson Profar 1+ Hit
Jurickson Profar has been an underappreciated part of the Padres’ success this season, so we’ll count on him to step up in this lineup tonight to add to a hopeful offensive onslaught. He’s had a hit in the past three games, so we’ll count on him to give us a hit without giving it much of a second thought.
Leg 4: Jackson Merrill 1+ Hit
Jackson Merrill has been an absolute stud for the Padres in his first postseason at just 21 years of age, but he’s failed to record a hit in each of the last two games. Overall, he’s too talented of a hitter to have any sort of multi-game drought, so we’ll count on him waking up at the plate tonight. Sometimes, you just have to have trust in a guy who has performed all season long!

Leg 5: Shohei Ohtani 1+ Hit
Shohei Ohtani has waited his entire career to play in a game like this, so do we really expect him to squander the opportunity? Although we’re not counting on his Dodgers to pull out the win and advance to the NLCS, I’ll take my chances of him recording a hit. He’s had a hit in three of four games this series, so let’s hope that tonight’s hit is meaningless and doesn’t impact the result.
Leg 6: Teoscar Hernandez 1+ Hit
To close out our parlay, we’ll look to Teoscar Hernandez to contribute a hit tonight, as he’s recorded a hit in all four games this season. Luckily, coincidently, only one of those was for extra bases, that being for a grand slam, but we’ll just hope he can’t hit a second grand slam tonight. Come on now, what are the odds of hitting two grand slams in four days anyway?
