5. Oklahoma Sooners
As a Texas Tech Red Raiders member, Philip Blidi played against the Oklahoma Sooners. Next week, he will return to Norman as a visiting recruit, where he can play for head coach Brent Venables and the Sooners. Oklahoma is now in the SEC and looking to add to the depth of its defensive line after some offseason departures. Blidi is an adequate interior lineman with proven power conference production, making him a commodity in the current transfer portal window.

1. Penn State Nittany Lions
Defensive tackle Philip Blidi is a graduate transfer who began his career at Texas Tech. Over three seasons, Blidi appeared in 34 games before transferring to Indiana to play for Tom Allen. Blidi started 11 games last season for the Hoosiers and totaled 30 tackles, including four tackles for loss. He entered the transfer portal just as spring practice was getting underway for IU under the direction of new head coach Curt Cignetti. Blidi is a solid depth piece, and he’s in high demand because of a current scarcity of quality defensive tackles. The Nittany Lions hired Tom Allen as defensive coordinator, and it would make sense if Blidi wanted to reunite with his former head coach. Penn State lost multiple defensive linemen to the NFL and could use the depth that Blidi would provide.

2. Oklahoma State Cowboys
The other school that could provide a reunion for Philip Blidi is Oklahoma State. The Cowboys hired former IU defensive line coach Paul Randolph as their defensive tackles coach, who is a well-respected position coach in that region of the country. Blidi played previously at Texas Tech, so he would be familiar with the Big 12 and with coach Randolph. The two had a good relationship while at IU, and Oklahoma State needs the help at defensive line, particularly on the interior.

3. LSU Tigers
The LSU Tigers were among the worst defensive teams in the SEC last season. It was a shocking sight and made very little sense, given the talent at their disposal and the heights at which LSU typically recruits. With a decent defense, the Tigers would have been a legitimate national title contender. Head coach Brian Kelly overhauled the defensive staff and invested in the transfer portal to try and fix what was broken. Those fixes are not finished, and LSU just hosted former IU lineman Philip Blidi for an official visit, showing their interest in securing him for his final season. Blidi would not start for LSU but could provide depth and be a rotation member in the middle of the defensive line.

4. Washington Huskies
Few teams have suffered the amount of attrition and turnover from one season to the next that the Washington Huskies have from 2023 to 2024. Head coach Kalen DeBoer and nearly the entire staff left the program. Almost every starter from the team that went to the National Championship Game and lost to Michigan has exited to other schools or the NFL Draft. The team that is taking the field for spring practice has virtually no carryover from the team that won the PAC-12 last season. With Washington heading to the Big Ten and now under the direction of head coach Jedd Fisch, Washington needs players that can keep the ship afloat as Fisch builds the program. Blidi is not a superstar, but he was a solid defensive lineman in the Big Ten and has a lot of experience in collegiate football. He visited Washington recently but left without committing.
