Falcons vs Commanders Best Bet ATS: Falcons +4.5 (-118)

There’s a lot on the line as the Commanders and Falcons face off on Sunday night. Both teams have a chance to clinch a playoff berth in Week 17. The Falcons and Commanders recorded important wins in Week 16, which has elevated the stakes. Michael Penix Jr. and Jayden Daniels were selected inside the top ten of the 2024 NFL Draft, creating a real buzz around the starting quarterbacks in this matchup. Penix Jr. is set to make his second career start for the Falcons. Even though Daniels has proven more at this stage, I have more confidence in the direction the Falcons defense has taken. I think the Falcons can run the ball effectively in this matchup, and Penix Jr. can make the necessary throws to keep this within striking distance. Washington may come out on top at home, but the Falcons do enough to cover the number.

Falcons vs Commanders Best Bet Total: OVER 47.5 (-110)

Even though I mentioned above that I’ve been impressed with the Falcons’ defense of late, I think the offenses will succeed in this matchup. Penix Jr. showed me enough in his NFL debut to trust him to move the football. On the other hand, Daniels has all but locked up the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and he continues to show his dynamic abilities in every start. Bijan Robinson has solidified his position as one of the NFL’s top running backs, which bodes extremely well against a Commanders defense, allowing the third-most yards-per-carry in the NFL. When you combine Daniels’s electric presence under center for the Commanders, paired with Robinson’s high-end tendencies out of the Falcons backfield, you have a recipe for points on Sunday Night Football.
