The Buccaneers had the worst 4-day run of any team in the NFL this year. If you're trying to win, I think, your 5th consecutive division title and lock up a playoff berth and another home playoff game, which they've done every year for the last 4 years, how do you lose back to back games in 4 days to the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons? Can somebody please Walk me through that. It's, it's impossible. Uh, a couple of bad fumbles late, the, uh, Baker Mayfield the interception with 8 minutes to go. And then when you've got the game locked up and won, you're up by 14 points in the 4th quarter against an offense, although better with Kirk Cousins, certainly, that has been 0 all year long. How do you blow a 14-point lead in the final 10 minutes of a game that really amounted in a lot of ways to a playoff game because the Carolina Panthers are lurking. and Carolina right now is a half game ahead of you. And if it ended today, which it doesn't, obviously, Tampa Bay is not playing postseason football, and they've given up the division to a dwarf quarterback and the Carolina Panthers. Like that's gonna happen right now. The other thing about this game. That made it almost unwatchable outside of, you know, the poor play, the turnovers and all that stuff. The Atlanta Falcons, and I'm not exaggerating this, and it was impossible to watch, and I don't even want to blame the referees for it because every replay confirmed that the call they made was the right call. 19 penalties. That is not an exaggeration. The Atlanta Falcons committed 19 penalties last night and still found a way to win with a Kirk Cousins miracle drive. Now, let's talk about that drive for a second because Todd Bowles is a defensive-minded coach. He was a defensive coordinator prior to becoming head coach in New York and then, of course, down to Tampa, was their DC before he became their head coach, uh, Tom Brady, uh, era, right? It's a 4th and 2, 3rd and 28 final drive of the game for the Atlanta Falcons. 3rd and 28 on 3rd down, they're in some kind of weird zone defense, no pressure at all on Kirk Cousins, and everybody's open and they gained 14 yards. So they get half game on the line, maybe the season on the line. It's now 4th and 14, and again, no pressure at all on Kirk Cousins. Everybody's wide open and they convert and get a 1st down to keep the drive alive to kick the field goal, obviously to ultimately win the game. And I'm watching it going, this game's a wrap, guys. It's 3rd and 28, and Kirk Cousins can't move, can't move at all. So if you blitz, he cannot escape. He has no escapability left. He's on one leg, and I'm saying to myself, OK, so no pressure on Kirk Cousins. I think that's stupid, uh, and, uh, it's again, prevent defense, prevents you from winning. But then the flip side of it is if you're dropping everybody back. Which is essentially what they did, or it appeared to me that they did. How is everybody wide open? Everybody Like, I honestly think in that spot, and again, I'm well known for having a, a howitzer for an arm. Everybody knows that right now. Like, I honestly, more than Kirk Cousins, more than Kirk Cousins for sure. I honestly think I could have completed one of those passes on 30. And 28 and 4th and 14, it was mind boggling. That was legitimately pitching catch football, wasn't it? It was late and they allowed the tight end pits to have his career best day. He had 3 touchdowns. He had like 900 yards. The last time a, a tight end had that many yards or 3 touchdowns was 1996. That's a long time. That's 30 years ago, 30 years ago. Shannon Sharp was the last time, 00, tight end had that many yards. And by the way, well, the Falcons aren't playing for anything other than to be the spoilers here, and I respect that. They didn't roll over and die. They fought back, and they're certainly a better team than Kirk Cousins playing, and, uh, he's their quarterback next year. Uh, he should be at least, but that's another story for another day. Todd Bowles is also known as one of the most mild-mannered, I say easygoing, but mild-mannered head coaches in football history. I want to play something for you, and I acknowledge there's a lot of beeps. More so, and I know Todd, and I'm friendly with Todd, at least I was when he was with the Jets. I like him a great deal. I have never in my life heard Todd Bow speak this way, and I respect it. This is Todd Bowles after they blow a 14-point lead in the 4th quarter. You had fumbles, you had the Baker interception, and you had a defense that had no idea what he was doing on the final two plays prior to the field goal. Here's Todd Bowles. I, I say unedited. We had to beep it so we could air it. That's the only edit in this, and you'll be shocked by it. Go ahead. What do you tell them in the locker room after a game like this? It's inexcusable if you don't make excuses. We, you gotta care enough where the hurts. You gotta care enough where the hurts. It's gotta mean something to you. It's more than a job. It's your livelihood. How well do you know your job? How well can you do your job? Well, you can't sugarcoat that. It was inexcusable. There's no answer for it. That's for it, no excuse for it. That's what you tell him in the locker room. I love that. So not 1010 beeps in a, in a 12th, uh, press conference there, and he's right.
