The Stanley Cup Final always lives up to the hype. That is the case again this year as the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers continue to battle it out for hockey supremacy. Inarguably, Game 4 was the most entertaining contest in this series to date. The Oilers erased a three-goal deficit, relinquishing the lead with 10 seconds to play before ultimately prevailing in overtime. With that, we can’t wait to see what’s in store tonight.
These are the bets we’re targeting in a must-watch Game 5 on Saturday night!

Leg 1: Oilers Moneyline -120
The Edmonton Oilers showed every bit of their resiliency on Thursday night. After falling into a 3-0 hole partway through the first, they stormed back to equalize things in the second period. They eventually potted a go-ahead goal in the third period, only to collapse and allow the Panthers to equalize things late. But a few key saves and a crossbar later, the Oilers eventually netted the overtime winner. Life should be a lot easier in the friendly confines of Rogers Place.Â
Edmonton has a knack for taking care of business at home. Through nine playoff games, the Oilers are 7-2 at Rogers Place. More impressively, their underlying metrics point toward sustained success in Edmonton. The Western Conference champs average more scoring and high-danger attempts than any other team, putting up 27.0 and 12.4, respectively. Predictably, that correlates with top-end scoring, with Edmonton’s 22 five-on-five goals surpassing every other team, including the Panthers. Still, the Oilers’ metrics point toward a deluge of scoring in Game 5.
As it stands, Edmonton is operating below its expected goals-for mark. Based on their current production, the Oilers’ expected goals-for total is 24.0; however, they are underperforming that benchmark. Their current tally is below expected, pointing toward a natural increase in scoring on Saturday night.Â
The betting market has these teams on a level playing field, but that only amplifies the edge on the hosts. We expect Edmonton to come out firing, build a lead, and never look back. The Oilers’ moneyline is the play.

Leg 2: Leon Draisaitl to Record 2+ Points +110
The Conn Smythe futures market is in a state of disarray. Connor McDavid entered the Stanley Cup Final as the odds-on favorite, only to be surpassed by Sam Bennett. But after his overtime winner on Thursday, Leon Draisaitl has bullied his way to the front of the pack. You can expect him to stand atop the heap after Game 5.Â
Analytically, Draisaitl has been superior to McDavid in the playoffs. The German center eclipses McDavid in terms of high-danger chances, out-pacing the Oilers captain by a 139-131 mark. Moreover, Draisaitl’s 67.1% expected goals-for rating is nearly three points above McDavid’s mark of 64.4%.Â
While McDavid has been frustrated in the Stanley Cup Final, Draisaitl has flourished. He is responsible for both of the game-winning overtime goals, contributing to Draisaitl’s seven points through four games.
Draisaitl has four multi-point games over his last five contests. He broke free in Game 4, and a repeat performance seems inevitable on home ice. We’re backing Drai to record two or more points on Saturday night.
Leg 3: Connor Brown Any Time Goal Scorer +650
Depth scoring is all the rage these days, and there has been no shortage of contributors in the Oilers’ lineup. Darnell Nurse, Jake Walman, and Vasily Podkolzin were the unsuspecting goal scorers in Game 4, but we’re predicting Connor Brown gets in on the action tonight.Â
Brown is typically deployed in a checking role, but that doesn’t diminish his offensive contributions. The Oilers forward averages 5.1 scoring and 2.5 high-danger chances per game, contributing to his 10.4 expected goals-for total. Still, Brown is operating below that benchmark, currently sitting with an on-ice goals-for total of eight. Combined with his sub-optimal 0.981 PDO, Brown is a natural progression in Game 5.Â
Brown has totaled five shots on goal over his last three contests, while playing north of 22 minutes in two of three. His usage and production metrics point toward the same conclusion — he’s a prime any time goal scorer candidate on Saturday night. We are not passing up that value, backing him at +650 or better.
