Predicting the Olympic Games Paris 2024 Men’s Field Hockey Bracket

We are through to the knockout stage in Field Hockey at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and the usual heavyweights are in contention.

Belgium and Germany skated through the preliminary round, finishing with unbeaten records atop their respective groups. Consequently, Germany is the top seed from Group A, with Belgium conquering Group B. That sets up respective quarterfinal matchups versus fourth-seeded Argentina and Spain on Sunday. 

In the other Round of 8 contests, second-seeded Netherlands and India will face Australia and Great Britain, respectively.

The quarterfinals between the Netherlands and Australia will be the most tightly contested battle. We give the advantage to the Dutch’s offense, with the other three favorites, Belgium, Germany, and Great Britain, advancing to the semis.

The defending Gold Medal-winning Belgians will take to the field against the Netherlands in the semifinals, with Germany taking on Great Britain. Germany has a clear advantage and should have no problem punching their tickets to the Gold Medal game versus the British. The Netherlands is in a classic revenge spot against Belgium and should pull off the stunning upset over the Belgians. 

The Netherlands run continues in the championship showdown with the Germans, with the Dutch capturing their first Gold Medal since 2000. Likewise, Belgium easily dispatches Great Britain, medaling in Men’s Field Hockey for the third straight Olympic Games.
