Alabama Crimson Tide: Top 3 Takeaways from Week 13
Rivalry weekend has come to an end, and with that, the regular season win totals have been finalized as well. Ahead of the SEC championship in Week 14, the Crimson Tide finished the season 11-1. With one more game left to make their case for the College Football Playoffs, Alabama could be far from finished. Nonetheless, here are three takeaways from Bama’s nail-biting win over Auburn:
Alabama remains undefeated in SEC play
Alabama is just one of two teams in the SEC that have yet to lose an in-conference game. In turn, the Crimson Tide earned themselves a date with the Georgia Bulldogs next Saturday for the SEC Championship game. If Alabama can upset the Bulldogs and hand them their first loss of the year, it’ll be a statement win for the program and their best chance to persuade the committee to give them a nod for the CFP.
Jalen Milroe is the X-factor in every game
Jalen Milroe has proven all season long that he can win a game using his legs or his arm. Fortunately for Alabama, the star quarterback did against Auburn. On a long fourth and goal, Milroe found Isaiah Bond in the corner of the endzone for a 31-yard touchdown reception to down the Tigers. The sophomore has continued to lead his team by example, and as long as he shows up on game day, the Crimson Tide have a chance to win every game they play.
The Alabama defensive weaknesses need to be fixed ahead of Georgia
Alabama struggled defensively against Auburn in Saturday’s matchup. The Tigers were able to find success in the rushing attack, with 244 rushing yards combined. If Alabama wants to pose a threat at all against Georgia, that’s an area for concern that will without a doubt need to be fixed before the Bulldogs exploit the weakness. If the Crimson Tide play with the lack of physicality they did against Auburn, Georgia will have a field day with their dominant rushing game.
