Portal Destinations for Rashad Amos

5. Cincinnati Bearcats
A dark horse candidate for Amos's services could be the Cincinnati Bearcats. The Bearcats are in the Big 12, so this would be a step back up to power conference football. Starter Corey Kiner is back, but backup Myles Montgomery entered the transfer portal, leaving a hole that Amos could fill. Amos and Kiner would be a solid one-two punch, and if Amos wanted to stay in Ohio, Cincinnati would be the best option.
1. North Carolina Tar Heels
Rashad Amos is in the portal, looking for his third (and final) school. After playing at South Carolina and, most recently, at Miami (OH), Amos is looking for a chance to showcase his skillset at the major college level for his final season. North Carolina needs depth behind Omarion Hampton after defections to three backup running backs. If Amos is comfortable splitting carries with the terrific Hampton, North Carolina makes sense.
2. Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee offered Amos in high school before he decided on the South Carolina Gamecocks. If Amos wants to return to the SEC, the Volunteers could be the spot. Leading rusher Jaylen Wright entered the NFL Draft, so Tennessee needs a lead back. Jabari Small is a potential starter but has not handled that workload before, so at the very least, Amos would be in a split backfield. Tennessee is not far from his hometown in Georgia.
3. Nebraska Cornhuskers
Lincoln is very excited about Matt Rhule's Nebraska Cornhuskers program. Five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola will be the starting quarterback, and the Huskers made progress under Rhule in year number one. Veteran running back Anthony Grant has turned pro, and no Nebraska running back reached 450 yards passing in 2023. While Nebraska does have some promising young players at running back, Amos would provide a veteran insurance policy to bridge the gap for those young players.
4. North Carolina State Wolfpack
Another program that pursued Amos in high school, Dave Doeren's North Carolina State Wolfpack, would offer Amos a chance to compete for an ACC Championship. The Wolfpack could be a contender with Grayson McCall in at quarterback and a favorable schedule. A pair of running backs left, so there is a need for some additional depth, and NC State's offense allows running backs an opportunity to produce.
