Story has been seen taking batting practice and throwing at the Red Sox spring training complex. While this is certainly good news, Story still has a long way to go to recover from the internal bracing procedure that he underwent on the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. The Sox were originally hoping that Story would be available in August, but now a return in July or maybe even late June seems possible. Story would seem likely to return as a second baseman rather than a shortstop, at least at first, to take it easy on his arm.
On Saturday, the Red Sox will host the St. Louis Cardinals. The Sox will have Chris Sale on the mound while Steven Matz will throw for the Cards. The Sox are +146 (-1.5) on the run line and -132 on the moneyline, with an over/under of 10.5, over (-110), and under (-110).
