Best Bet #1: Cal Raleigh Home Run Derby Champion (+300)

No catcher has ever won the home run derby. That could change tonight with Seattle’s Cal Raleigh booked as the odds-on favorite, and for good reason. Raleigh leads MLB with 38 home runs, the second-most ever at the All-Star break, trailing only Barry Bonds‘ 39 during his record-setting 2001 campaign. A switch hitter, Big Dumper’s consistent ability to put the ball in the air is prime for an event like this, Raleigh posting a 58.5% fly ball rate against righties and 55.1% versus lefties. On that note, the expectation is that Raleigh will bat left given Truist Park’s shorter right field dimensions. While his stamina will surely be tested, Raleigh’s slugging prowess should lead to victory.

Best Bet #2: Matt Olson to Make the Finals (+340)

Replacing superstar teammate Ronald Acuna Jr., Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson will have the home crowd on his side. Olson’s power numbers have dipped since his standout 54-home run season in 2023, but that’s not to say he still isn’t a threat to go deep. The veteran’s underlying metrics remain strong, with a 41.3% hard hit rate and a 43.9% fly ball rate against right-handed pitching. Of course, Olson’s familiarity with Truist Park should only help him in this event. His path to the final will undoubtedly be easier if he can avoid Raleigh in the second round, a function of seeding after the opening stanza.
