Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Pitcher Streaming Options: June 17-23
Streaming starting pitchers is a common strategy that often leads to success in fantasy baseball. For those unfamiliar with the concept, it involves picking up a "lesser" pitcher who has an appealing matchup or two in the near future.
This strategy does come with risks, as there's usually a reason why a particular pitcher is rostered at a lower rate in most leagues. However, the gamble can pay off nicely if a fantasy manager makes the right pick and their waiver addition performs well.
The goal of this weekly article is to help fantasy managers identify two-start streamers with favorable matchups for the upcoming week of the 2024 MLB season. These suggestions are beneficial in various season-long formats, but they can be especially useful for gaining an edge in weekly head-to-head leagues.

Jake Irvin (WSH) – vs. ARI, at COL – 51%
Jake Irvin should now be considered a long-term waiver-wire add, as he is one of the league’s hottest pitchers during his breakout season. The towering righty has lowered his season ERA to an impressive 3.00 after five consecutive starts of at least six innings, allowing two runs or fewer. Over these five starts, Irvin has posted a 1.48 ERA (3.10 xFIP), a 0.92 WHIP, and a 31-to-6 K/BB ratio across 30.1 innings. Opponents have hit just .200 against him with a contact rate of only 77.7%. He has allowed more than three runs in just three of his 11 outings this season.
While a start at Colorado’s Coors Field always carries some concern for pitchers, Irvin should be able to maintain his groove next week.
Aaron Civale (TB) – at MIN, at PIT – 36%
Unlike Irvin, Aaron Civale has struggled throughout the season, posting a 5.20 ERA over 14 starts. However, his 3.83 xFIP is somewhat promising, and he has been showing signs of improvement recently. The 29-year-old held the Cubs to just one run on five hits and a walk while striking out six over 5.2 innings this past Wednesday.
Civale has now pitched at least five innings in six consecutive starts, allowing no more than four earned runs in any of them.
Over his last four outings, he has delivered a respectable 3.43 ERA and a 22-to-4 K/BB ratio across 21 innings. This is particularly impressive considering Civale faced the potent Orioles’ offense (5.13 runs per game) in two of those games.

Tobias Myers (MIL) – at LAA, at SD – 4%
Tobias Myers has been impressive in his last two outings for the injury-riddled Brewers’ rotation.
The rookie right-hander delivered his best MLB performance on June 7, shutting down the Tigers over eight scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and three walks while striking out five. He followed this up with six innings of one-run ball against the Blue Jays this past Wednesday. While these were relatively favorable matchups, it appears Myers is starting to find his footing at the big league level. Over his last six outings, he has posted a 2.60 ERA (3.95 xFIP), with a 25-to-9 K/BB ratio and a 1.08 WHIP across 27.2 innings. His 35.1% HardHit% and 20.8% LD%, resulting in a .212 AVG (.254 BABIP), are also encouraging.
Myers is a risky option, but one that could pay off in deeper formats.
