MLB Betting Guide for June 17: Skenes Building NL ROY Case

After an epic weekend of baseball around the MLB, we have a nine-game slate set for Monday night that should pack plenty of great action. Let’s dive into it all.

Kicking off the night, we’re heading to the NL Central as Paul Skenes will take the mound for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Cincinnati Reds. Since making his MLB debut, Skenes has pitched his way into the same discussion as some of baseball’s best arms with his 2.43 ERA across six starts. His stuff is nothing short of electric, making continued dominance likely. Priced at +170 to win the NL Cy Young, he’s second only to Shota Imanaga, who posts a 1.89 ERA on the year for the Chicago Cubs. It certainly will be a fun race to follow until the very end, but regardless, sit back and watch Skenes work his magic tonight.

Additionally, the Philadelphia Phillies can breathe a sigh of relief as they are finally home from a brutal road trip that began in London and ended with a pair of AL East stops in Boston and Baltimore. They’ll welcome the San Diego Padres to town, who just got swept in Queens by the New York Mets over the weekend. 

Elsewhere, the New York Mets hope to continue their momentum as they head south to face the Texas Rangers, while the Atlanta Braves hope to stay afloat in the NL East against the respectable Detroit Tigers. 

Closing out the night, the Los Angeles Dodgers will be in Coors Field to take on the Colorado Rockies. Winds are blowing out on a hot night in the altitude, setting up for a potential home run derby, as the over/under sits at 12.
