We have an NL East rivalry set for tonight as the New York Mets are set to host the Atlanta Braves, but this matchup has more postseason implications than most realize as the Mets are just 1.5 games back of the top NL Wild Card spot, so we worked up an ultimate same-game parlay for the action.

Legs 1 & 2: Braves ML & UNDER 7.5
Chris Sale will take the mound for the Braves, and he’s arguably been the NL’s most dominant and consistent pitcher. Regardless of the Mets’ recent surge, we trust Sale immensely to keep the runs down and keep this a low-scoring game. The Braves have won 12 of the last 15 games where Sale has started, and he’s allowed two runs or fewer in seven consecutive starts. On the other end, Luis Severino will take the ball for the Mets, and he’s posted a respectable 3.58 ERA on the season, but he’ll get to face a Braves’ lineup that’s decimated by injuries right now. Ultimately, Chris Sale is good enough to win in a low-scoring battle, as the Braves offense doesn’t have enough MLB-level hitters in their lineup right now to expose Severino. Braves ML and the under it is.
Leg 3: Chris Sale 7+ Strikeouts
Chris Sale has recorded at least seven strikeouts in 15 of his 17 starts this season, and collectively, the Mets have struck out at a 23.5% rate in July, good for the 11th-highest mark in baseball. Given Sale’s season track record, we’ll bet on him to reach the seven-strikeout mark against an above-average strikeout team any day of the week.
Leg 4: Marcell Ozuna 1+ Hit
Marcell Ozuna has recorded at least a hit in ten of his last eleven games and has posted a .333 batting average overall in July. While it’s a brief sample, Ozuna has gone 2-3 in his career against Severino, so we’ll trust he can manage to get us a hit tonight.
Leg 5: Francisco Lindor 1+ Hit
Francisco Lindor is riding a nine-game hitting streak and is batting .308 in July. Sale isn’t the ideal matchup for anyone, but Lindor posts a very impressive .418 batting average against Sale in his career across 31 at-bats. That’s good enough for me!
