Leg 1: Braves -1.5
Despite the Atlanta Braves’ struggles at times this season, they can pour it on anyone. They have gone 5-1 over the last week, beating out the run line in each of those five victories. The Marlins will be throwing Vallente Bellozo on the mound tonight, who got shelled in his previous start in early July, compared to Spencer Schwellenbach who had a very strong July. At home, under the Friday night lights, we’ll look for the Braves to win by at least multiple runs.
Leg 2: Spencer Schwellenbach 6+ Strikeouts
Spencer Schwellenbach has struck out at least six batters in six of his last seven starts and over the past week, the Marlins have struck out collectively at the eighth-highest mark in baseball. We expect Schwellenbach to pitch deep into tonight’s game, giving him every opportunity to break through the six-strikeout mark.
Leg 3: Marcell Ozuna 2+ Total Bases
Marcell Ozuna is the most dangerous hitter in this Braves’ lineup, so as we have no faith in Bellozo or anyone in the Marlins’ bullpen, we can count on Ozuna to get two total bases. He has a .310 batting average since the start of July, and he is fresh off a two-hit performance last night. We’ll look for him to do that once again.
Leg 4: Orlando Arcia 1+ Hit
Orlando Arcia is on a 12-game hitting streak, and we’re not too worried about anyone the Marlins may throw on the mound. We’ll count on him to extend that streak tonight.
Leg 5: Xavier Edwards 1+ Hit
Since being called to the majors in late June, Xavier Edwards has posted a .378 batting average for the Marlins, earning a hit in 23 of 28 total games. We’ll take our chances here for him to deliver a hit that doesn’t ultimately do too much damage to our Braves run line leg.
Leg 6: Jake Burger 1+ Hit
To close out our parlay, we’ll stick in the Marlins dugout and eye up Jake Burger to get a hit as he has a hit in 13 of his last 16 games. Plus, he is a much better hitter on the road, with a .277 batting average compared to just .205 at home, so like with Edwards, we’ll hope the hit he gets doesn’t cause too much damage.
