Leg 1: Braves ML
The Braves have too often come up flat this season for my liking, but they have no excuse to lose tonight, especially with Chris Sale on the mound. In games where Sale starts this season, the Braves boast an 8-3 record, and while Sale is coming off an abysmal start last week against the Oakland Athletics, I don’t think we should be too concerned about that repeating tonight. In his collective body of work this season, he’s proven to be one of baseball’s best arms, so we should treat him as such tonight.
Leg 2: Chris Sale 6+ Strikeouts
Chris Sale has struck out at least six in ten of his eleven starts this season, with the one miss being his most recent start, which lasted just four innings. In every other start, he went at least five innings, so should Sale be pulled early tonight, the parlay would already be cooked anyway.
Leg 3: Marcell Ozuna 1+ Hit
Marcell Ozuna has recorded at least a single hit in 26 of his last 29 games, so as he’s hitting .312 on the season, I have no reason to fade him against Jake Irvin, who is average at best.
Leg 4: Ozzie Albies 1+ Hit
Ozzie Albies doesn’t have the greatest numbers this season. Still, he has four hits over his last four games and has gone 2-3 in his career against Irvin.
Leg 5: CJ Abrams 1+ Hit
CJ Abrams has done an alright job as the Nationals’ lead-off hitter this season, and while his .246 batting average doesn’t jump off the page, he’s hitting .343 against left-handed pitchers this season. I know Sale is no ordinary lefty, but all it takes is one good piece of contact!
Leg 6: Jacob Young 1+ Hit
It’s a little hard to project Jacob Young as he usually hits at the bottom of the lineup, which isn’t ideal for this parlay. Still, he has performed very well against left-handed pitching, posting a .346 batting average. We need something to boost the value of parlay, so we might as well tout the nine-hole hitter!
