5. Arkansas Razorbacks
Speaking of roster rebuilds, might the Arkansas Razorbacks be a good option for the former Duke Blue Devils forward? John Calipari recruited Mitchell while he was the head coach at the University of Kentucky, and he is now starting over after a surprising move to Fayetteville. No scholarship players remained on the Arkansas roster when John Calipari took over. Calipari is expected to bring a talented recruiting class, but Arkansas will still have several holes on the roster to fill. The Razorbacks have a robust NIL operation that has been promised to be available to Calipari, and they could make an enticing offer to Mitchell.

1. Kansas Jayhawks
After two seasons in Durham, former five-star recruit and 6’9” forward Mark Mitchell is leaving the Duke Blue Devils. Mitchell averaged 11.6 points per game last season and raised his rebounding number from 4.5 to 5.9 boards per game. Mitchell is a native of Kansas City, so the first destination that comes to mind is the Kansas Jayhawks. Mitchell had KU as a finalist during his high school recruitment and took multiple visits to Lawrence before ultimately choosing the Duke Blue Devils. After a frustrating season for Bill Self’s squad, Kansas added Riley Kugel and Zeke Mayo from the transfer portal, and Mitchell would fill the hole left by the departure of forward Kevin McCullar Jr.

2. Kansas State Wildcats
If a return to his home state is desired, Kansas State would also be an option. The Wildcats did not have much interest from Mitchell out of high school, but the program has improved under the direction of head coach Jerome Tang. Arthur Kaluma is returning and would be a good frontcourt partner for Mitchell. His arrival would ease the pain of losing bigs Will McNair Jr. and Jerrell Colbert. Mitchell’s size and versatility make him an attractive option because he could pair well with several interior players. The Wildcats have been the subject of early commitment rumors for the former Duke Blue Devil.

3. UCLA Bruins
The UCLA Bruins were another of Mark Mitchell’s finalists during his high school recruitment, and Mick Cronin is looking for reinforcements to help restore the program to the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins are moving to the Big Ten and could be without Adem Bona and Kenneth Nwuba. That would leave a significant deficit on the interior, and this was a team that went just 16-17 in 2023-2024. It’s unknown if Mitchell is interested in going from one side of the country (North Carolina) to another (California). Still, if he wants an entirely different environment, Westwood is attractive.

4. USC Trojans
The other new Big Ten program in California, the USC Trojans, could also be an option for Mark Mitchell. New head coach Eric Musselman recruited Mitchell when he was at Arkansas and is now completely rebuilding the roster at his new job in Southern California. Vincent Iwuchukwu, Arrinten Page, Joshua Morgan, and DJ Rodman are all gone, and the Trojans need talented players to build momentum under Musselman. Mitchell would appear to be a good fit for Musselman’s open and uptempo offensive system.
