Georgia vs. Texas Best Bet ATS: Bulldogs +4.5 (-104)
The Georgia Bulldogs enter a matchup as an underdog for the first time this season. We already saw the Bulldogs drop a closely contested affair to Alabama after a second-half comeback attempt fell short. The Longhorns remain undefeated entering this matchup, and the numbers suggest they boast the nation’s top defense. It’s hard to argue, but seeing how Carson Beck manages the game against this defense will be interesting. What’s given the Bulldogs trouble has been mobile quarterbacks. Quinn Ewers is much more of a pocket presence, giving the Bulldogs less to worry about from a scheming standpoint.
Here’s a stat that should draw your attention: Georgia has won 50 straight games against teams other than Alabama. Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs haven’t lost to another program in nearly 1,500 days. Give me the points and the Bulldogs to threaten a potential upset.
Georgia vs. Texas Best Bet Total: UNDER 56.5 (-115)
Even if the Bulldogs have underachieved to this point, they still have the pieces to put together one of the best defenses in the country. Texas has been the standard in that department through Week 7, and they’ll be prepared for their biggest test of the season here. Georgia’s offense is at its best when it’s finding success with the run and mixing in play action. I think they’ll succeed with that against Texas, but not nearly enough to make this some back-and-forth Wild West shootout. Although there are some dynamic weapons to this Texas offense, Georgia’s defense has the talent to keep them at bay for stretches. Points will be scored in this big SEC matchup, but not enough to exceed 56.5.
Georgia vs. Texas Best Player Props
Georgia Bulldogs Wide Receiver Dillon Bell OVER 55.5 Receiving Yards
It’s not a revenge game for Dillon Bell in the prototypical sense, but when you’re born in Texas and get a chance to stick it to your hometown, you do it. Bell is an important part of the Bulldogs’ offense, and if they want to find consistent success in this matchup, he needs to be a focal point. Bell has tallied just shy of 300 yards on the season, paired with four touchdowns. Bell’s best game of the year came against Alabama, where he caught five passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. As an underdog, many expect Georgia to be trailing in this game. Bell will be active if that’s the case, especially in the second half.
