And this game's gonna take place, the first one, December 20th. That's the college football playoff live from Oregon, 7:30 p.m. That's James Madison going out west to take on Oregon. The line opened up around 20.5 points show. Most outlets are north of that now at 21.5 and a total of 50.5. JMU in the college football playoff. Some say they shouldn't be there. Well, they're here, taking on Oregon. What's that spread line, Joe? Well, Donnie, I, I mean, pay attention to this game because this is likely the game that will alter the qualification rules for the college football playoff moving forward, especially when JMU likely gets run out of the building here, and that is likely what is going to happen here. And look at the markets here, Donnie, we saw this open 20.5 with. We were all scratching our head going, how are the 12 best, how do we have any games over a touchdown, lined over a touchdown and expect us to believe that these are the 12 best teams in the country? No, uh, it's not. And while congratulations, not taking anything away from JMU, uh, the market tends to agree with what I'm saying here, Donnie, cause we're now up to what, 21.5, 22.5. This thing is likely going up. Believe, Donnie, the 23, 23.5, maybe even 24 before it's all said and done. The total though, is kind of stuck at 50.5, but we all know what's gonna happen there. We are going to see that over money start trickling in as we get a little bit closer to this game. But for right now, congrats JMU, but moving forward, the group of five, yeah, that's, uh, we won't be seeing teams or matchups like this, I think, any longer. I gotta tell you too, because like, yeah, we'll watch this game and we'll enjoy it to some extent because most people are gonna gamble on it anyway. But how about Texas and Arch Manning going up to Alts in there? Or how about, you know, the angry Notre Dame squad here they are now. They should be in the playoffs and playing up there. It's, it's amazing, but it's only college football and it's designed to make you upset. Just the way they get down to business show now, look at the. Game here and I call this maybe a personal game for Joe Ranieri because the Kennesaw State fighting Joe Rainieri's are taking on Western Michigan, the MAC champions in a bowl. Line opened up at 4.5. Joe still sits at 4.5 total opened up 49.5. We're still sitting at 49.5. Kennesaw State, Western Michigan on the 19th at 11 a.m. You gotta, I love this here, Donnie, because these were two teams that we cashed a lot of tickets on this year with Kennesaw State, Conference USA champion, taking down Jacksonville State. We were on that one, and of course, Western Michigan, uh, the Mac Darlings, uh, one of the best teams all year, nobody paid attention to. Uh, and the reason I really like games like this, uh, Donnie, is because while all of the other bowl games, before you start putting Any money down betting them, you have to understand what's going on with the portal and the opt-out situation. Uh, it makes it very difficult when you're talking about betting Texas or Vanderbilt, and so on and so forth on who's in, who's out, who's not playing. When you've got teams like Kennesaw State and Western Michigan, this is without a doubt, their national championship. There, there is nobody gonna be opting out on either side here. They're gonna want to play this game. And they are going to want to go toe to toe. So this is one of the more fun ones, Donnie, because it, we don't have to be like, all right, well, who's this playing quarterback now? Who, where is the guy all, they're all there, Donnie, which makes this very interesting, especially given the fact that we're seeing the line hovering around 3.5. Western Michigan opened up as a 4-point favorite. We're starting to see 3.5s pop up. I do think this goes off as a field goal, Donnie, when it's all said and done. It is in Myrtle Beach at Brooks Stadium. In South Carolina, so neutral site, but it is a field goal game and let's face it, uh, I am gonna, it's gonna be very hard for me to pick that game, Donnie, because I have, uh, I like both of these teams a lot, but it should be a lot of fun to watch it go down to. Wow, I didn't get in the college football playoff. Wow, it's everybody's fault here. Well, of course, teams are going to be upset because we have an invitational tournament. We don't have a decided this is the best 12 teams in the field, and it was designed that way by college. Football, and whoever runs it, because they're stupid. And we can all admit that where if you leave it up to the public, the public will pick out, trust me, the best 1216, 24 teams out there, and we will get a better playoff than what's instituted now, which is Joe continuously points out, rightfully so. Why are you having a playoff game that sits at 20.5 when if you inserted the right teams, we're under a touchdown or maybe even a field goal, if that. It's just the way it lays out right now. But the thing I get a kick out of is Notre Dame being upset. On 3 sports put out a tweet yesterday. It reads, This way. Notre Dame AD Pete Pavacqua says the Irish were targeted by ACC social media campaigns pushing Miami over Notre Dame in the college football playoffs. Quote, we were definitely targeted. We bring tremendous football value to the ACC and we didn't understand why you go out of your way to try to damage us in the process. He's living so far in a glass house, he doesn't even recognize what the heck he's even talking about, Joe. It's simple. The ACC football teams don't. Include Notre Dame. Just because you play a handful of ACC teams, you're not in the ACC. You know, it's been funny, he should have said it also like, I can't even believe USC, who we play every single year, did not advocate for us nationally to be in the college football playoffs. Everybody sees through that. Nobody's taking Notre Dame's side now because that's really what they think inside the building. I can't believe the ACC put one of their members in over us because we let them play a couple of games with us per year. Stop the madness, Joe. Listen, every other sport at Notre Dame is involved with the ACC, Patty, right? They're all part of the conference. Except football here, and now listen, it has worked for you, right? You've gotten the benefit of the doubt for how many decades now, right? Since the NewtRockney days, I get it. But the reality is, it didn't work for you this year with the situation here. And what did you want exactly the ACC to do? They were. They knew they were in jeopardy of spending all that money and not getting anything back by not having a team in the postseason because they screwed up. And you lost to Miami, Donnie, so what was the choice exactly? Of course they were gonna go, all things being equal, to have Miami there. Even your so-called slight is absurd. What damage? Did you get exactly by the ACC going, hey, you know what, if it comes down to head to head, well, you know, Miami could very well be it. I, I just don't understand this whole outrage about how the ACC is permanently hurt. They're like, stop it. Everybody was expecting you to be in because you're Notre Dame, not because you earned it. I understand this too. I, I didn't hear Notre Dame say, yeah, like if we make the college football playoff, we give our money to the ACC. They don't give any money to the ACC. They're gonna promote the football team. They get money from Miami being in the college football playoff. They wouldn't get a penny for Notre Dame. Unbelievable that they're thinking this process. But by the way, he was talking about what he was saying. Take a look at this clip right now. Get a better picture. Uh, we were shocked. Uh, I would say mystified by what happened on Sunday. And just, you know, where, where my head and heart go, and I know, I know Marcus feels the same way. You just feel for those, those student-athletes on our football team. You know, as I said yesterday, as I said on Sunday, we felt we did everything we could over the course of the season, you know, we lost our first two games. We're not hiding from that. We lost against a really good Miami team, we lost a nail-biter against Texas A&M, two great teams by a total of 4 points, and then we did everything we needed to do. We had one of the most 10, uh, 1 of the most dominant 10 games runs in the history of college football. And on top of that, we felt that the CFP committee, the ranking committee felt the same way. You go back to that first ranking where we were 6 and 2 and Miami was 6-2, and they had already beaten us, and we were 10th and they were 18th, and the only thing that happened from that point forward is we both went on these amazing runs. And through no fault of our own, we wake up and find out that, you know, we're the odd man out. We're on the outside looking in. Well, here's the issue that he has. He's sort of explaining it, but he's, he's passing the point. We understand that it's when you lose in college football and you have a chance to regain some of that back. His point of, well, Miami lost 2 games in a row and we're both 6 and 2. Why are they so far behind us? Cause Miami just lost 2 games in a row. But then what happens over the next 5 weeks, Joe? Miami continues to win, teams lose in front of them. You get closer and closer. That's what happens. That doesn't mean you have it at the same time. It's the same reasoning behind, OK, well, when we were both 2 and 2 at this point, or something like we had 2 losses, Notre Dame should have been ranked 60th, but we knew they weren't gonna get pushed back that far because they lost to two ranked opponents and they were ranked coming into the season. That's all you need to know. By the way, Big 12 wasn't exactly thrilled with what Notre Dame was saying either. Look at these comments. I will say this, and I'm a, and, and I'm a little outspoken about it. I don't like how Notre Dame's reacted to it. So, OK, I think, I, I think Pete's, his, his behavior has been egregious. It's been egregious going after Jim Phillips when they saved Notre Dame during COVID. Um, we all knew, and it was very transparent. Hunter was very transparent about it, the chair, that as. Notre Dame and Miami got closer together, head to head would be a factor. OK. BYU lost. They became closer together, head to head made a difference in that in that decision. So I think he is totally out of bounds in, in, in his approach and if he was in the room, I'd tell him the same thing. How about that, Joe? What do you think? If you had won the game, we wouldn't be having this conversation. So once again, the way it worked out was, unfortunately, it came down to you and Miami, and one of you had to go in and you, the numbers across the board season-wise, pretty even. The only thing that separates you is the fact Miami won. To think the ACC isn't going to promote that fact in some way, shape or form is absolutely. Ridiculous. Uh, don't lose the Texas A&M game. Don't lose the Miami. Even if you forget the Miami game, if you beat Texas A&M, we're not having this conversation. So, it's amazing to me, the personal drama that you make out of this, where, listen, it was close, you were on the outside looking in. Sorry, but that's the rules that were created, unfortunately, as bad as they are, that's the game. Don't hate the player, hate the game here. I don't know what to tell you. And by the way, also on this, this other look where it's like, oh, you know, the, the cause of irreparable harm or our relationship to ACC, you know, the ACC should do, kick them out from every other of those Olympic sports out there in soccer, like, you know, good luck. You're independent in everything. Now you have no budget and you're gonna be flying around to Utah and Idaho and Maine to get games now as opposed to having that schedule set in the ACC. It can go both ways. Notre Dame. Join a conference, we'll never have an issue because the ACC would have pushed you in the college football playoff. Coucy market's coming up next. Let's get. Changing on a day to day basis here. That's the calcium markets that we'd love to look at and also hot and heavy topics here that we like to talk about, which is the college football playoff. And that's not gonna get settled for at least another month down the line, but the games will begin shortly. And if you are looking at the calcy market right now, it's no stranger to being in that top spot, which you have been just about all season long from start to finish. It's Ohio State, but their price point last week, Joe, before the Big 10 championship game was around 38%. We now see that. Dipping to 30%, which means a $100 wager betting on Ohio State to win the championship will pay back $334. Behind them, Indiana, who has increased 7% from last week before that Big 10 championship game. They now sit at 22% and the SEC champion at 16% for the Georgia Bulldogs as they look to get an increased share there as well. A lot of other teams between 10% and 5%, Joe, in the county marketplace. Who is your leader in the clubhouse that you would like to wager on? Well, and listen, I, I think the way I have it, Donny, is I have Ohio State, Indiana, and Texas Tech, probably power rated the three best, and Georgia is right on the outside, right, right outside of that. Any combination of those four teams, I think have a legit shot of, uh, of advancing here. So, uh, to me, I, if you really wanna take a flyer, if we're, if we're going. Going down the board with a team, you know, Miami to me has to be considered in here. Uh, I don't like Oklahoma. I don't think Ole Miss is going to get it done here. But it's amazing to me, here we go again, and nobody's talking about Georgia, and their number might actually be worth investing in as well. So, Miami and Georgia would be the two teams that I'd look at, uh, cause if they can win a game here, uh, you might get a pretty, uh, a pretty decent return before the outcome even has to happen. By the way, I look at this too, Joe, and I say to myself, like, again, the county markets here, it's not necessarily, which it does work out in your favor. Yeah, I took Ohio State, I wrote it out, they won, and I got my, you know, 334 bucks back. But to me, we're using these markets more as like an analysis of what we think is gonna happen with the short-term dips and also buys. Alabama's at 4%. Nobody wants Alabama after after their effort against Georgia. Georgia, look, singular fantastic football team, beat up Alabama. There's no question about it. A $100 wager on Alabama to win the national championship at Calcy Joe is $2500 as a payback. I don't think they're going to win the national championship, but I'm gonna tell you right now, I actually like them more than I do Oklahoma. And if I bet $100 to win $2500 Alabama wins that game, those 4% odds, Joe, probably double and you got a profit in hand at that point. Here. That's the way I would look down the board, saying, I don't necessarily think I can win the championship, but can I get through a round or two? Because when I look at that matchup between Alabama and Oklahoma, which Alabama on the road is favored slightly, and I agree with, I look at the Oklahoma offense and I pray that they can move the football. When I look at Oklahoma, or excuse me, Alabama's offense, I go, well, unless they're going up against Georgia, like they should be able to hang around that football game and win because they have more weapons. Alabama is one of those teams I look at at the bottom of the barrel that nobody wants, that could be profitable, Joe, even after just one game. Well, listen, and, and they should have a chip on their shoulder because let's not forget, once they got blown out in the SEC championship, there were a lot of people jumping off the Bama bandwagon and we're looking to throw them out. So, uh, you know, can they take, but they also gotta get healthy. They're dealing with a ton of injuries on that team. And I'll say this, the first game against Oklahoma, I mean, look at the yardage difference. Offensively, Donnie, I mean, it wasn't even close. Alabama dominated them. They just made a, a few more plays on defense, OU, in order to win that game. Can they afford to do that? Can they afford OU to have that kind of discrepancy in another game and expect to come up with a big defensive play? I, it, it's tough. I'm with you. If Bama can get healthy, there's some value with them.
