Aaron Rodgers returns to the field on Monday Night Football as the New York Jets visit the San Francisco 49ers. Yes, age is certainly a factor, but there’s an expectation that Rodgers has completely forgotten how to be a functional quarterback in the NFL over the last year, and I’m just not buying it. For the Jets to succeed in 2024, all they need is for Rodgers to show flashes of good quarterback play. It won’t take much to be better than what they’ve gotten at the position over the last two years. With an elite defense that just might be the best unit in the NFL, the Jets will have a chance to win a lot of football games if Rodgers is a league-average quarterback. With some question marks over how healthy Christian McCaffrey is going into this clash (assuming he plays, he’s listed as questionable), there’s reason to be at least somewhat hesitant about how San Francisco will move the football. With a lot of headlines in the 49ers’ camp for the wrong reasons, the Jets’ defense helps put them over the top tonight and keeps this clash a field goal game. We also don’t hate sprinkling the Jets moneyline, which is priced at an appetizing number of +166.

Even with a moderate total listed at 43.5, there’s a real expectation that this game will have a defensive feeling out process, which could make for a low-scoring affair. In saying that, with all the explosive weapons both teams have on offense, never say never this early in the season. The total has continued to drop since the line opened for this contest, highlighting the money coming in on the under. With no real idea what the snap counts will be for some of the 49ers’ star weapons on offense, it’s hard to predict a high-scoring battle tonight. In addition, the under has cashed in nearly 65% of the Jets’ road games over the last two seasons. We’re putting our money where our mouth is and backing that trend to continue tonight in Santa Clara.

Breece Hall OVER 64.5 Rushing Yards (-113)
The one area that the San Francisco 49ers struggled with on defense last year was stopping the run. The bad news for the 49ers tonight is that they’ll be facing a bull ready to be let loose in Breece Hall. It’s pretty easy to envision Hall being the focal point of this offense, and we expect him to get a bell cow workload in Week 1. With how the Jets’ defense is keeping them in games, Hall is essentially game script-proof, which puts him in a really good spot to kick off the season on Monday Night Football. Hall averaged just shy of 60 rushing yards per game in an offense without a real quarterback last year. With Rodgers in the mix, we won’t be surprised to see that number climb to the mid-70s in 2024. Get in while you can at this type of rushing prop for Hall; it won’t last long.
