Here is a look at the report cards from each team’s first two preseason games. With starting units seeing limited snaps, team grades are based on pass or fail.

NFL: Preseason Report Cards (Pass or Fail) In The NFC North

The starting unit played the second preseason game and had immediate success. The upcoming weeks will be vital as the Bears decide if <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/braxton-jones/1702">Braxton Jones</a> or rookie <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/ozzy-trapilo/86198">Ozzy Trapilo</a> will start at left tackle. Lastly, Chicago’s starting cornerbacks, <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/jaylon-johnson/1736">Jaylon Johnson</a> and <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/kyler-gordon/1729">Kyler Gordon</a>, are both dealing with injuries. Third-year cornerback <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/tyrique-stevenson/1720">Tyrique Stevenson</a> should be the front-runner to fill in for Johnson or Gordon, but his behavior issues are a concern for the coaching staff. The Bears cannot afford to have Johnson and Gordon on the sidelines as week one approaches.

Chicago Bears: Pass

Detroit has elected to keep its starters on the bench for the first two preseason games. This is understandable for a quality veteran team. A development to follow is tight end <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/sam-laporta/2110">Sam LaPorta</a>. Last week, reports came out that LaPorta is dealing with an undisclosed injury. Backup tackle <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/keaton-sutherland/2764">Keaton Sutherland</a> is set to miss the 2025 season, and offensive line depth is crucial throughout the season. It is too early to tell how the offseason losses of both their offensive and defensive coordinators will affect the team’s performance, but head coach Dan Campbell will have the team ready for week one.

Detroit Lions: Pass

Green Bay is another team with health as its primary focus as they prepare for the regular season. <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/jordan-love/2030">Jordan Love</a> had surgery on his left thumb following a ligament injury suffered during the team’s first preseason game. All signs point to Love being ready for week one. Third-year running back <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/emanuel-wilson/1984">Emanuel Wilson</a>, the favorite to start the season as RB2, played well during his limited reps in their second preseason game. Wide receivers will be a focus this week and during the team’s final preseason game. <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/jayden-reed/1992">Jayden Reed</a> and <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/romeo-doubs/2004">Romeo Doubs</a> are dealing with ailments, and rookie <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/romeo-doubs/2004">Matthew Golden</a> is the only depth chart starter not carrying an injury tag.

Green Bay Packers: Pass

Minnesota is the most interesting team heading into the upcoming season. They are coming off a successful 2024 campaign and enter the season with quarterback <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/jj-mccarthy/69164">J.J. McCarthy</a> under center after missing his entire rookie season. Head coach Kevin O’Connell has his work cut out for him getting McCarthy ready while dealing with wide receiver <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/jordan-addison/1287">Jordan Addison</a> serving a three-game suspension, <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/justin-jefferson/1274">Justin Jefferson’s</a> hamstring, and starting left tackle <a href="https://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/players/christian-darrisaw/1284">Christian Darrisaw</a> working his way back from ACL and MCL tears suffered in week eight of last season. All four players are vital pieces to the Vikings’ 2025 season.

Minnesota Vikings: Pass
