5. Bo Nix (+2000)
Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton was quite a bit higher on former Oregon quarterback, Bo Nix, and selected him with the No. 12 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. That was a surprise but the reasons for his optimism is clear. Nix would appear to be a really good fit with the offense Payton wants to deploy.
The former Duck is very accurate and makes good decisions with the ball but he lacks the kind of arm strength NFL teams typically value. He needs to be in an offense that values the traits he possesses and Payton feels he can use Nix in a similar way that he used Drew Brees. The Broncos have decent weapons but Nix is a longshot to win this award for a reason. Payton is betting big on Nix to be a success and he should get an early opportunity to prove whether or not he has what it takes.

1. Caleb Williams (+200)
At +200, Chicago Bears rookie Caleb Williams is the odds-on favorite to win the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year. The number one pick in the 2024 NFL Draft is expected to start at quarterback and he steps into a situation that is nearly perfect for instant success. The Bears have a quality offensive line, a good stable of running backs and a wide receiver corps that is lightyears ahead of what most top draft picks get in year one. Williams will be throwing to fellow rookie Rome Odunze along with veterans DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. The next person on the odds list is +600 so Williams is a heavy favorite to win the award.

2. Jayden Daniels (+650)
The second quarterback on the list is the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft: Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels. Daniels is a fantastic athlete that will be able to utilize his legs and put up big numbers during his rookie season. The Washington Commanders have a good group of weapons for Daniels to work with including new running back Austin Ekeler and wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson. The group is versatile and talented enough to help ease the transition for Daniels in the passing game and his running is a perfect match for offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury’s scheme.
If the Commanders are a surprise threat in the NFC East, Daniels will be a major contender for this award.

3. J.J. McCarthy (+850)
The Minnesota Vikings were strongly linked with a quarterback and they traded up one spot to make sure they landed former Michigan Wolverines QB J.J. McCarthy. McCarthy is expected to start immediately and replace the departed Kirk Cousins. He has a strong arm, good enough mobility to be a threat with his legs and a major track record of success as a leader.
The Minnesota Vikings have Justin Jefferson and tight end T.J. Hockenson plus promising young receiver Jordan Addison. An excellent supporting cast should give J.J. McCarthy a chance to be instantly successful and he represents good value at +850.

4. Drake Maye (+2000)
Drake Maye checks in at +2000, well below the top three and a longshot to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. The reasons for that are two-fold: Maye is young and a bit raw in terms of quarterback mechanics with inconsistent accuracy and a lack of refinement in his throwing motion. Secondly, the Patriots don’t have much in place to support a high rookie ceiling for him. New England has a first-year head coach, a poor offensive line, no stars on offense and a lot of inexperience at receiver and tight end. It’s very possible that Maye does not open 2024 as the starter and he is given a chance to learn from the bench. Maye is a play for the future but that does won’t help him win the rookie of the year award.
