The Stanley Cup Final always lives up to the hype. That is the case again this year as the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers continue to battle it out for hockey supremacy. The Panthers pulled even in the series, posting an overtime win in Game 2, stealing home-ice advantage as they head back to Sunrise. But as we continue to see, the Oilers won’t go down without a fight.
These are the bets we’re targeting in a crucial Game 3 on Monday night!

Offense has been a common theme early in the Stanley Cup Final, but bettors are preparing for a reversal of fortune in Game 3. Expect goals to be at a premium when the Panthers host the Oilers on Monday night.Â
In addition to the usual advantages of playing at home, there are a few other factors at play at Amerant Bank Arena. The Panthers continue to deploy an impenetrable defensive system at home. So far this postseason, opponents have been held to an average of 18.9 scoring and 8.1 high-danger chances per game. Moreover, only two of those foes have eclipsed 21 scoring opportunities, with three surpassing eight high-danger chances.Â
At the same time, we also anticipate decreased production from the Oilers. Edmonton has been held to nine quality chances in two of their last four road games, representing a steep departure from their playoff average of 12.1. Naturally, that correlates with diminished output. The Western Conference champs have been held to two or fewer goals at five-on-five in three of those four contests.
Goals will be harder to come by in Game 3. The Panthers can deploy their top checkers against the Oilers’ big guns, but these teams’ metrics also point toward a more reserved affair. It may be a chalky pick, but we’re making a play on the under.

Leg 2: Jake Walman Any Time Goal Scorer +1400
To offset the -120 price tag on the under, we’re making a sincere value play with our second pick. We are turning to Jake Walman as an anytime goal scorer versus the Panthers.Â
The usual suspects continue to drive the Oilers’ scoring, but Walman has quietly asserted himself as a solid secondary contributor. The rearguard ranks fifth on the team in scoring and high-danger chances, contributing to his 57.2% expected goals-for rating.Â
Still, Walman is hovering slightly below his expected benchmark. Heading into Game 3, Walman is operating with a 55.8% actual goals-for rating, pointing toward implied progression. Further, he has peppered Sergei Bobrovsky early in this series, delivering seven shots on net through the opening two games.Â
It may be hard to believe, but Walman is riding a four-game point streak into tonight’s clash versus the Panthers. While he hasn’t found the back of the net since Game 2 of the second round, his only tally of the playoffs, we expect him to buck that trend on Monday night.Â
Leg 3: Carter Verhaeghe to Record 3+ Shots +114
The Panthers’ most significant advantage is that they can roll four lines and expect production out of everyone. Still, their top playmakers continue to shoulder most of the offensive burden. We’re betting that Carter Verhaeghe breaks free in Game 3 and makes his presence felt.Â
Analytically, Verhaeghe is one of the best. He leads Panthers forwards in Corsi rating and scoring chances, while sitting third in high-danger opportunities. Further, he continues to do most of his work in the opponents’ end. So far this postseason, Verhaeghe is starting 60.2% of his shifts in the attacking zone.Â
We’ve also recently seen Verhaeghe become a more prominent part of the Panthers’ attack. The former third-round pick has three or more shots in two of his last three and has averaged north of 25 minutes per game in the Stanley Cup Final.Â
Once again, Verhaeghe will be counted upon to lead Florida’s offense in Game 3. While there may be value in backing him as an anytime goal scorer, we expect him to record at least three shots on Monday night.
