The Cleveland Guardians celebrated a solid 3-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox yesterday, maintaining their steady position in the AL Central.

Guardians’ catcher, Mike Zunino, blasted a two-run homer (361 ft.) deep into right field in the bottom of the 7th, raising the score to 3-0. It marked his third home run of the season, and was enough to seal the win. 

On the pitching end, Hunter Gaddis emerged as the game’s winning pitcher, his performance being a bright spot in his 1-1 season so far. Gaddis threw six shutout innings, allowing only two hits with four strikeouts, contributing significantly to Cleveland’s victory.

On the other hand, the White Sox found themselves struggling on the offensive front. Despite a double from left fielder Andrew Benintendi, the team was unable to capitalize on opportunities, leaving five runners in scoring position. The White Sox lost their 30th game of the season, marking a slow start to their campaign.

The losing pitcher for the White Sox was Jesse Scholtens, his record dropping to 0-2 despite a commendable ERA of 2.25.

The closer, Emmanuel Clase, put on a stellar performance for the Guardians, collecting his 16th save of the season. His one inning of work included one strikeout and no hits or walks, capping off the shutout win.

The two teams continue to occupy 3rd and 4th positions in the AL Central, respectively.
