After two previous contentious and controversial bouts, undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor (24-1-0, 6 KO) of Ireland and unified featherweight world champion Amanda Serrano (47-3-1, 31 KO) of Puerto Rico will return to the squared circle at Madison Square Garden. Taylor is putting her IBF, WBC, and WBO world super lightweight straps on the line yet again this weekend.

Both prior fights in the Taylor-Serrano series have been incredibly exciting. The first (Apr. 2022) concluded in a split-decision victory for Taylor, while the most recent matchup (Nov. 2024) had all three judges for Taylor. Many thought Serrano fought more formidable than the scorecards showed at AT&T Stadium; the Puerto Rican landed 324 punches (44.1%) compared to Taylor’s 217 (41%). Of course, Serrano was hampered by a nasty gash above her right eye that was further opened by a flagged headbutt from Taylor.

The southpaw Serrano has shown a particular eagerness to exchange in her meetings with Taylor. According to CompuBox, Serrano has thrown a total of 1,358 punches in their two matchups, which equates to 679 punches per bout. In the same vein, she improved her accuracy, landing 44.1% of strikes on Taylor in 2024 (up from 27.7% in 2022).

With the current betting lines, -178 odds which carries a 64% implied probability feels too chalky to wager on Serrano to defeat a fighter she’s failed against twice already. However, in front of a predominantly Puerto Rican-friendly crowd in New York City, Serrano will be as motivated as ever.

For this trilogy, a certain prop has caught my eye. Under FanDuel’s “Punch Stat Specials" tab, “Serrano to Land 300+ Punches in the Fight" has a favorable pricing +110 odds.

Best Bet: Serrano to Land 300+ Punches in the Fight (+110)
