Game-by-Game Predictions for Yankees-Dodgers World Series

Game 6: Yankees @ Dodgers (Dodgers Lead 3-2)
They are up 3-2 at home, with a chance to win the World Series. What more can the Dodgers ask for? While I expect the Yankees to give everything they have, this is just the Dodgers' spot to win it all, and I can’t see them blowing it. We’ll get the best from their pitching staff, and the lineup deserves our trust from top to bottom. What a season - the Dodgers are World Champions once again.

Game 1: Yankees @ Dodgers
Game 1 is set for Friday night in Los Angeles as Gerrit Cole and Jack Flaherty. Cole has been in these moments before, dating back to his days with the Houston Astros, but I do not believe in his collective body of work. He has a 3.31 ERA in the postseason, and the Yankees have won all three games where he’s taken the mound, but his strikeout numbers are down. Too many balls have been getting into play, which is a dangerous game against this Dodgers lineup. On the other end, even though Flaherty isn’t known as an ace like Cole, I trust him to deliver in this spot, and he wants to make right for his disastrous Game 5 performance in the NLCS. Being at home will be another significant edge for these Dodgers, so I like them to take Game 1.
Pick: Dodgers
Game 2: Yankees @ Dodgers (Dodgers Lead 1-0)
Heading into Game 2, can the empire strike back? I believe so, as I’m not a believer in Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound compared to whoever the Yankees elect to throw on the mound in Game 2. I envision the Yankees jumping on the Dodgers early and not letting up, as we’ve seen them do plenty of times this season. Plus, they’ll feed off the pressure of not wanting to return to the Bronx down 0-2.
Pick: Yankees
Game 3: Dodgers @ Yankees (Series Tied 1-1)
Heading into this postseason, I had little trust in the Dodgers’ arms to hold up for the long haul, namely with Walker Buehler. Well, I was dead wrong as Buehler showed off some stones in Game 3 of the NLCS in Queens with the series tied 1-1, tossing four scoreless outings. He showed he’s not afraid of the moment, and for the Dodgers’ bats, it’s a matter of time before they set fire.
Pick: Dodgers
Game 4: Dodgers @ Yankees (Dodgers Lead 2-1)
Heading into Game 4, where the Dodgers lead 2-1, they will get to face whoever the Yankees view as their weakest starter, likely Luis Gil. I trust the Dodgers’ offensive depth. Considering this game's scenario, everyone will be backing Gil and the Yankees against a likely Dodgers bullpen game where the Yankees have to win, essentially allowing the Dodgers to be playing with house money. We had a similar scenario in Game 4 of the NLCS where the Dodgers offense just exploded, so I’ll look for a repeat showing in Game of the World Series now as the Dodgers quiet the Bronx crowd, setting up to clinch in Game 5 potentially.
Pick: Dodgers
Game 5: Dodgers @ Yankees (Dodgers Lead (3-1)
Not so fast; I’m not counting out the Yankees enough to expect them to get swept in Yankee Stadium in the World Series. Gerrit Cole will be pitching at home with the Yankees season on the line, and we’ll see an impressive desperation from the Yankees offense. The Dodgers will be coasting in this game as, in their mind, they’ll still have the chance to win the World Series in front of their home fans should they drop this one. Cole likely won’t pitch two bad outings in the same series, so we’ll count on the Yankees to send this series back to LA.
