MLB Betting Guide for Sept. 27: Postseason Field Taking Shape

As we enter the final weekend of the MLB season, all 30 MLB teams are in action today, so let’s break down all the key scenarios that will be played out this weekend.

In the AL, the New York Yankees have a one-game lead and the tiebreaker advantage over the Cleveland Guardians for the No. 1 seed, with the Yankees set to host the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Guardians to host the Houston Astros, who are locked into the third seed. The Baltimore Orioles are also locked into the fourth seed as the first wild card team, while the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers are tied for the final two spots. The Minnesota Twins aren’t eliminated, but they are three games back, needing to sweep the Baltimore Orioles and getting an unlikely sweep this weekend from the Royals and Tigers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently on track for the NL’s top seed as they hold a one-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies, but the Phils hold the tiebreaker advantage should the two teams be tied after Monday. The Milwaukee Brewers are locked into the third seed and have nothing to play for, but they’ll welcome the New York Mets to town, who have everything on the line as they fight for NL Wild Card spots alongside the Arizona Diamondbacks and Atlanta Braves. The D-Backs will host the San Diego Padres, who have nothing to play for being locked into the fourth seed, and the Atlanta Braves will host the Kansas City Royals, who currently on the outside looking in. Ideally, everything will be decided this weekend so the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets don’t have to meet for a doubleheader on Monday.
